My Journey to Alaska and back....again (and other Army/YankeeVol life adventures)

Is Alaska worth it for a 1 to 2 year "tour"? Keep in mind I've done a solid year in Iceland.

I am envious. Being AF, never got the chance. Later part of my career, I had four of my guys go through FB and got qualified. If I only had been younger....

Be safe!

The T-11 falls slower. Plus my ruck will weigh maybe 30 lbs tops

That is pretty nice. I'm 6'3" and weighed about 205 when I was in the service. We jumped out of UH-1s up in Dalonega during the mountain phase and I seemed to always have the M-60. Ruck was always around 70lbs, plus ammo (20lbs?) plus pig (25lbs) and I would exit over 300lbs. And T10s weren't really cooperative, especially in the light wintry air of the mountains. I fell fast.

wait, check that, by the time I hit the mountain phase I was around 170lbs, so subtract 35 pounds from that...I still hit hard.

Earned the German Edelweiss today. 7K climb(so 14K total) with a 4,100 foot elevation change.
