I'm good on the age by 2 years. It's the time in service that got me. I'm at 13, the cutoff w/o needing a waiver is 12.

You'll get your 9. It's all part of the shrinking and growing of the Army cycle. By the time you're eligible for 9, there will be an expansion again.

IF I were to make 8 my first look, I'd be at 16 years. Took me 11 months to pin 7. So even if it takes half of that I'll be at nearly 17. I wouldn't get looked at for 9 until 20. So highly doubtful. Even if all that went down, I wouldn't (at least not now) want to do the 3 years to take the promotion.

Just had an LPD about Mogadishu. I actually got to hear from quite few folks who were actually there. It was pretty awesome.
