During that 10 years he got the program to OMAHA. You see, that's the difference between baseball and the other sports. You do what you need to do to get to a Regiona, Super Regional and Omaha. That is how you contend for a national championship Einstein.

That's even a dumber statement than the ones before. Let's review Rod's last 10 seasons at UT:

1998 - 36-20, 11-17 SEC
1999 - 28-28, 10-20 SEC
2000 - 40-23, 10-18 SEC
2001 - 40-28, 18-12 SEC - SEC Tourney, NCAA CWS (2-2)
2002 - 27-28, 12-18 SEC
2003 - 31-24, 13-17 SEC
2004 - 38-24, 14-16 SEC - SEC Tourney, NCAA Tourney (1-2)
2005 - 46-21, 18-11 SEC - SEC Tourney, NCAA CWS (0-2)
2006 - 31-24, 11-18 SEC
2007 - 34-25, 13-15 SEC - SEC Tourney

Total 351-245, 130-162 (.445) SEC

4 SEC Tournaments in 10 years
2 Winning SEC records
0 SEC Championships
0 SEC Division Championships
0 SEC Tournament Championships.
3 NCAA Tournaments

I'll give you the point that two of the times they went to the NCAA Tournament they went on to the College World Series, but to say "That is how you contend for a national championship Einstein" isn't really it at all. They won two games in '01, but didn't make it out of the loser's bracket. In '05, they were two and out. Outside of the two CWS runs, the team won exactly one NCAA Tournament game, a 1-0 win over Stoneybrook.

But largely what you see over the last 10 years of Rodball was dramatic underachievement in the conference. They finished over .500 in the conference twice. That isn't "Doing what you need to do."

Can we please get off the subject of Rod Delmonico? Even if he was the answer, there's no way in hell that Hamilton is going to call a press conference, say "I screwed up" and then re-introduce Delmonico as the coach. It's not happening.

The best thing for this program right now is for Raleigh to be fired ASAP and for Hamilton to get it right this time. I think Rod Delmonico was a good coach, I've already said he shouldn't have been fired, but the deed's been done. There are plenty of other good coaches out there, some of them better than Delmonico. And Hamilton needs to find the right one.

From yesterday's baseball America.........Lets just say Murphy is a stud

Murphy is happy to be working but clearly looks forward to getting
back into college coaching. He's just 51 and has been a Division I
coach for 22 seasons, starting with his 1988 Notre Dame team. In all,
Murphy has a 947-400 record in D-I, a .703 winning percentage.
Combined with his finishing kick at ASU, it's hard to imagine a
college baseball coach with a better resume who is also a free agent.

His competition in that regard would include former Tennessee coach
Rod Delmonico, who went 699-396 for the Vols in 18 seasons and like
Murphy coached the national team for the Netherlands. Delmonico, who
took the Volunteers to Omaha three times, led the Dutch to a pair of
stunning victories against the Dominican Republic in the 2009 World
Baseball Classic but hasn't gotten a college job yet. Another 50-
something free agent, Yankees minor league manager Pat McMahon, has 15
seasons under his belt, having taken both Mississippi State and
Florida to the CWS and has a .648 career winning percentage. Like
Delmonico, he hasn't gotten back into college coaching—yet—since being
let go after the 2007 season.

Talking about Rod Delmonico's return is as big a waste of time as talk about Phil Garner. It's not going to happen.

I think we should shoot higher than Croatoan and Country Club.
