My only concern this year is the carryover from last years South Carolina game.

I agree 100% with this. Only WR who didnt struggle with it was Tillman and he wasnt 100%
I think the GA game had more to do with that DLine than anything. You can scheme the WR's open no matter how physical a CB is. When you getting whipped up front and your QB is getting knocked upside the head ain't no answer for that

Dont forget about shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties either.

The speculation leads us to believe Banks may have been treated more unfairly. The thought also is Banks had to do something bad to get suspended when no one else did. Without facts, we make up our own. Either way the defense looked atrocious and it was missing it's most important player.
I honestly think the depleted secondary was the bigger factor... but it is what it is now.

Oh yeah, how could I forget that part lol. When your getting dominated up front AND have more laundry on the field than your local neighborhood cleaners, you're gonna be in trouble every single time.

Well.. You let a QB stand back there all day he'll find somebody. Got no pressure on Rattler all game. He got way too comfortable in that game. Need to turn his helmet around on his head a few times in Neyland and it will be a different story.

Rattler was ON that game and was a much improved QB compared to his previous game showings.

YES, our DB's weren't making plays against the passing game but Rattler was pinpoint with his accuracy.

Coupling bad DB play, Rattler playing lights out and Hooker going down was the perfect storm. USCe DB's were exceptional as well.

This outcome won't happen as much with the improved DB play you mention.

Well I just paid way too much for some tickets for this game. Going to do my part to make sure The stadium is deafening.

My wife agreed to go. She is an immigrant and pretty oblivious to UT football besides the fact that I have it on the TV in the Fall. She has no idea what she just signed up for. LOL
Here's to hoping she gets caught up in the game day experience and atmosphere has one heck of a good time and watches the games with you every Saturday!

I saw a guy wearing South Carolina gear in the grocery store a few weekends ago. Of course, I had my Vol stuff on. He saw me and I laughed, and he said, "I know. I know. We've probably got a whupping scheduled at Neyland this year." I said I expected he was right.

Like I said when it happened, I was at the game and the whole vibe was off. Even the uniforms looked the wrong shade of orange. The receivers weren’t giving maximum effort like they normally do. I’m ready to move on.

I have had a good feeling this team has that game circled on the calender. Its probably going to be a 7pm night game in Neyland too. This game has revenge written all over it.
I hope we return the favor and make their attending fans miserable. I’m usually one to opt for class, but after hearing how awful our fans were treated at their place, to hell with them.

I'm going to do something wildly unpopular, but necessary.

Rattler had the game of his life. He threw for almost 1/3 of his total yards and TDs for the entire season against UT . He took advantage of our TURRBLE secondary. The Banks thing probably had a big effect on the team, but Rattler went absolutely off for the first time, maybe ever. I just hope he comes back to earth and this is not the new norm for him.
Coincidentally, they fired their OC the week before Rattler had the game of his life. Hate to say it, but I think they’ve improved. Won’t matter tho because I absolutely guarantee Heupel has this game circled. Vols will bring their A game against Beamer ball.

I think the consensus was that there was an issue with Banks confronting Hooker about NIL money and Milton had to step in.

Nothing official, but that would mess with the teams mindset on both sides of the ball.
Good point. I recall drwith Banks.

Yep their D-line was a jump ahead of UT, the Noise was super loud from start. We went on silent count and their D was timing it and some plays looked like they actually jumped off but no flags. This threw Hookers timing off and we actually had their D-backs beat for TDs a couple times early but the D-line was in Hookers face. I see little resemblance with UGA & the USC Jr game, except they were both away. Hooker getting hurt and dropping the ball for a USCjr unforced TD was a 14 point swing in JRs favor. All though our D sucked if that 14 point swing & Hooker out doesn't happen, this might have ended in a score like the Bama game despite our D.
Going to hostile stadium, the best recipe is to get up early and take the crowd out and take the momentum away from them. Like we did at LSU, a incredibly hard road game at a usually rowdy stadium.

I'm actually pretty worried about if there's any carryover from losing to Georgia State!

We played really bad back then!

Hopefully it doesn't still effect us...

As for Banks and all that, every locker room has conflicts like that just like every family has them. They usually stay behind closed doors as this one mostly did. The exact details are still a matter of speculation and debate. But you really can't throw that many "alphas" into the same space and not have some dust ups. If there's a difference here it may be that Heupel chose to punish the level Banks went to whereas those things are generally handled "administratively".
