Wow, what a great month for UT basketball recruiting. Some great news and excitement in July. I figured I'd just post some random thoughts that hopefully make some sense.

1) I actually think Hubbs officially committed to the staff, the staff got excited, somebody said something, and Hubbs wanted to wait to tell other coaches, including Coach K, who is in Europe for the Olympics. I'm 95% confident Hubbs is a Vol and that he committed to the staff. Just my personal feelings.

2) The Vols need a center. But here's the good news. If Stokes leaves, we get another scholarship opened up and that means we can get a center. If Stokes stays, then we have two centers with two years experience on the roster (him and Yemi). Good situation there.

3) I read the Nick King interview that was on VQ the past week, and I do think the Vols have a good chance. I still think he's a Memphis Tiger, but I don't think it's as done as everyone thinks.

4) Interesting situation for the staff is Crawford and Hubbs both want to be Vols. Do they let Landry go, hope Moore or Richardson can be the backup PG, and get a big man or JW3...or do you keep Landry? I still really like Landry but he didn't have a good summer. Will be fun to watch.

5) I don't think I have to say it, but this is a monster year for Coach Martin. With all the recruiting buzz, if he can't pull through (let's say he only get Nichols out of the main 4: Williams III, King, and Hubbs) it will be disappointing. You can still get a good class, but there would be disappointment. Get 3/4 (and pull off a miracle and get 4/4) then it shows UT will be a force in the SEC.

6) Memphis, UT is coming for you. Just saying.

7) So my class for UT for 2013? I think the Vols get Landry, Hubbs, Nichols, Williams III, and Desmond Ringer because Stokes goes to the league. That's easily a top ten class and maybe top five, which would be the highest ranked class for UT maybe ever.

If it goes the way we want, I would say you almost have to cut Landry and get one of the other guys.

I think we keep stokes, that leaves 4 scholarships open...

I think we take 4-5 out of this group...Landry, Crawford, hubbs, Nichols, jw3 and Rimmer.

My gut says...Landry, Crawford, hubbs, Nichols and Jw3...and that we part with someone(Q or Reese seem most likely). I think it's my gut telling me that, then again maybe I'm dreaming!!!

(1) I would not necessarily say that that kid is going to Memphis. I remember everyone saying that Memphis would likely get hometown players, J. Stokes and Tony Harris, but we got both.

(2) " Memphis, here we come." Well, the new Memphis coach wants U.T. off of his schedule. So, it is un likely that we get to play them regularly.

Was referring to recruiting in Memphis against Tiger High.

If we get all the guys we want, I don't think we take Landry. Seems like we are a couple of years out from possible reeling in a top 5-10 class? Things are moving super quick for CCM and that speaks volumes for his character. There is NO WAY you take over a program after a popular coach who gets shown the door, fail to make the tournament and still have the potential to grab a highly ranked class like this. This is huge!!!

Greatp post btw...I agree with everything you said. #2 sticks out to me because I'm really interested in seeing how Yemi progressed in the offseason

Ok, I hope this doesn't blow up in my face, but if we get our dream 4 of AN, RH, JW, and MC, would that be better than any of Pearl's classes?

Pearls second class, on paper, may beat it. Ranked #10, included 2 top 50, and 3 top 100, so 5 top 100 players. Obviously the class didn't live up to the hype, but going by rankings and stars it'd be close.

The dream 4 would include, 2 top 50, and 2 top 100, so 4 top 100 players. However, pearls class had 0 top 25 guys, the dream 4 would have 2 top 25.

Holy cow, i completely forgot about that class. Yeah I would give Pearl the edge.

CCMs dream 4 would have that front end mega talent though. 2 top 25 guys makes a strong statement, Pearls class didn't have that.

Definitely a close comparison though on paper.

I'd take CCM's dream class over Pearl's class. jmo. 2 top 25s is huge.

You guys are really living a pipedream. there is no way we get more than 1 of the big 4 you are listing. We may get lucky and get Hubbs, but I don't think we get Nichols, King, Williams, and Crawford is a long shot.:eek:hmy::eek:hmy:

I hope I am wrong. This is JMO and with me living in Memphis, I admit I am bombarded with propaganda every day. I think Josh will get the ones he wants except Nichols, who I think goes to Duke.:ermm::ermm:

Crawford and Jw3 are long shots? Where do you get your info. We are at worst #2 on crawfords list, and at worst #3 on jw3, more likely #2 on his as well......

Tennessee has a better chance of landing more than 1 of those 5 than pastner does.

It's all speculation at this point, but the reports and rumors disagree with you.

You also said hubbs and Nichols were headed to Florida, how's that prediction looking?

Actually i stated UT would not sign both player, maybe one but definitely not both. I also stated UF had a good chance with both players being they were teammates on M33M.

Please draw up my post to refresh my memory.... :)

If you don't remember that's fine, I'll pull them back up when those 2 don't go to Florida.

Someone was making a point about hubbs and Nichols playing together, and you went on some rant about M33M. Saying do we know who sponsors it and blah blah blah, and that those 2 playing for M33M means they're very likely going to Florida not Tennessee.

You also then jumped to conclusion about Nichols when duke offered, I forgot that was you. Saying how it was basically over, it's his dream school and it's just a matter of time till he committs.

You're a Memphis fan I get it, but don't dissapear when these guys committ.
