My recruiting predictions and thoughts

If you don't remember that's fine, I'll pull them back up when those 2 don't go to Florida.

Someone was making a point about hubbs and Nichols playing together, and you went on some rant about M33M. Saying do we know who sponsors it and blah blah blah, and that those 2 playing for M33M means they're very likely going to Florida not Tennessee.

You also then jumped to conclusion about Nichols when duke offered, I forgot that was you. Saying how it was basically over, it's his dream school and it's just a matter of time till he committs.

You're a Memphis fan I get it, but don't dissapear when these guys committ.

I still firmly believe that AN is headed to Duke and Hubbs to UT.

Hubbs to UT you're claiming now???

Not that long ago you were hubbs to Florida, your statement was "UT should worry" talking about M33M, and Nichols/Hubbs heading to Florida.

BTO give it a rest. I simply stated Billy D had a good chance to sign them with his M33M connection, i never stated both players were locks to UF.

Hate to say it, but I have a feeling that this will happen. Getting Hubbs is still great, but having Nichols too would be absolutely ideal.

FTR, I have no idea what you claimed.

Pearls second class, on paper, may beat it. Ranked #10, included 2 top 50, and 3 top 100, so 5 top 100 players. Obviously the class didn't live up to the hype, but going by rankings and stars it'd be close.

The dream 4 would include, 2 top 50, and 2 top 100, so 4 top 100 players. However, pearls class had 0 top 25 guys, the dream 4 would have 2 top 25.

Maybe I am missing something but according to Rivals Pearl's 2nd class was 2 5*, 1 4*, 1 3* and 1 2*. That's a total of 5 players, so I don't think they signed 5 top 100 players. When a team signs 2 top 50 players and 3 top 100 players that's only 3 players, not 5. FWIW Rivals had them with 3 top 50 guys and 4 top 150, but I don't think Tabb was rated that highly by anyone.

People can change their minds on where they think players would go. It's not like its a contract signed in blood.

So in one breath you say Flotida has a good chance, and in the next breath say Nichols is a Duke lock.

Covering all your bases huh?

With Nichols making it sound as if playing time and PF depth are one of his biggest concerns I'll be surprised if he ends up at duke.

I'm familiar with how the star rankings and total numbers work. The 2012 class had 6 committs, rivals doesnt have Cameron Tatum listed.

He went to prep school that year, but was a committ that year if we're givin Pearl credit for the class he pulled.

I suppose either way is right.

What site are you using to get 5 top 100 guys then? And if Tatum went to prep school he wasn't in that class. Since by going to prep school he would have been able to sign with anyone he wanted to the next year.

Edit: I see you were probably using Scout. Scout actually lists Tatum in 2006 and 2007 classes.

Yes scout, much better for basketball than rivals IMO.

For all we know hubbs may not qualify and go to prep school, so for the sake of the discussion Chris brought up I was including the whole signing class of 2006, which included tatum.

If we're not including tatum though then probably this "dream 4" would be better without question on paper. Both would be 4 top 100, but the dream 4 would have 2 top 25, something 06 didn't have.

Would Hubbs be the highest ranked player to ever sign at UT or

I'm fairly certain hopson and harris were higher and more accoladed (neither of them had one ranking service put them as low as 80 like hubbs had), may be wrong though. Also, though I'm on my phone and can't check, id bet allan houston was pretty damn high

If hubbs stays at his current ranking no.

However, I expect him to be more succesful than Scotty. There were lots of questions about Hopson when he came out, I haven't heard many on hubbs.

Who was the other kid Pearl recruited that ended up transferring to (maybe) NC State. Marquis Johnson or something like that?

Yea that's him.

Not trying to start an argument on here, but pearl had a lot of "busts". Seems we had more highly rated guys not live up to expectations than any school I can think of.

Yup. No argument's here just stating facts.....Bruce Pearl and staff didn't have the best eye for talent but was exciting and that attracted ppl.

I love the Martin aproach. Almost a poker face and nothing flashy....you gotta love it!!

It's his constant negativity to UT that aggravates me, he's a Memphis fan. So we talked awhile back about how hubbs and Nichols playing together was big, and he pops up saying how it's huge for Florida not tennessee.

Then duke offered and he's all, oh he's gone to duke, UT has no chance. It's just aggravating to see him trolling, he rarely, if ever, posts things that are positive towards Tennessee.
