My take on the coaching search.

Jeff Fisher would be an interesting pick considering no one in their right mind would even think of it. Nice off the radar pick

You've got to be dreaming about Jimbo Fisher (sp?) He has a program a few steps away from contending for NC in a hotbed of recruiting at a school that has just as much of a football history. He would look at this as a demotion.
He's also not happy there according to a lot of folks.

Not really. UT has them beat in wins by quite a long shot. You realize they didn't even start football until 1947. Nevertheless, Fisher is going nowhere.

To me these are the big three candidates.

John Gruden
Charlie Strong
Jimbo Fisher

fall back options

Larry Fedora
David Cutcliffe

Wild Card
Bobby Petrino

If not John Gruden, then my first choice is Charlie Strong, then my fallback would be Fedora.

Sorry but I'm just not buying the whole Gruden rumor. Here is who I think realistically is on Hart's list...

First Choice
-------------
Bob Stoops
Chris Peterson
Gary Patterson

Second Choice
----------------
Butch Davis
Charlie Strong
David Cutcliffe

Third Choice
--------------
Al Golden
Jim Tressel
Bobby Petrino

You don't buy Gruden but you've got Bob Stoops as your top pick? Why on earth would Bob leave his stable high paying job for a harder more risky job at a school that is way worse off?

You guys RELAX...take a DEEP breath. Hart will hire somebody we ain't heard of. Besides, Jeff Fisher would go to USCw where he's from & not UT if offered a college job.

My pick would be Jim Mora from UCLA - the things he has done to turn them around and demand 110% from his players at all levels is just what we need.

Although I might be a little biased due to my current geographical location :)

I am hoping Stoops is in the mix , doubt it but hoping . I think Butch Davis is a name to watch . Cutcliffe , while it would not be a huge hit hire , would be able to restore stability and 8 wins a year like it or not . Truth be told Cut should have got the job 3 years ago when no big name wanted it . I will be shocked if this hire is the name hire everyone wants .

I just feel that if they hired Cutcliff he would be under the microscope from day one. He would probably hire Fulmer to be OC or O-line coach. Bring Majors back to coach defense. Keep Jay Graham as running back coach. Them old birds still have a kick to get the job done....what say you? (sarcasm used in post).

Check out John Adams' article at GoVolsxtra on Baylor's coach Art Briles. Nobody else has mentioned him that I have heard.

I'd take Gary Patterson, Jim Mora, or Chris Petersen, but none of those guys are going to move out here. Gruden doesn't want this job. Let it die. Fulmer is at least as good a coach as any of these possibilities minus maybe Petersen and is ready and willing. It's a no brainer.
