I would consider it a huge mistake for either to declare for the draft. Jarnell has showed nothing to make him a power forward prospect. He's undersized with a bad shot. As for McRae, he's more ready than Stokes, but he needs significant work on his dribbling. I'm confident that he will have a much improved body for wherever he ends up next season. As for Cuonzo, this could be the third consecutive year that he will face an unexpected blow. However, as much as I rave about his abilities, I don't think the fans will give him another pass. He should have recruited depth by this juncture of his tenure.

Neither is listed anywhere in the first two rounds so they would be way down the line. no guaranteed contract and would have a very slim chance of making a team. I think both could play for someone in a foreign country if that is what they want to do.

Agree 100% with what you are saying.

Both are listed as 2nd round-undrafted in current update by draft express I believe

Are they thinking of declaring for the draft?
Or are they trying to get an idea of where they stand?

Lets give them both Dennis Rogan's cell number.

Such a shame. Kid was from Fulton too, and was a solid NFL prospect had he just returned. He was as good if not better then Waggner who should get drafted in 6-7th round.

The evaluation opportunity is there, so why not see where you stand. They probably got some guidance from family/friends about what to do. My personal opinion is both would be putting their chances of ever playing NBA out of reach by leaving this year.

Would he have been eligible if he returned?

maybe they should get in touch with Hopson and ask him what they should do.
Mcrae is more ready than Stokes. Mcrae still needs work and build off what he was doing in the 2nd half of the season and do it for a whole season.
Stokes is still a raw player. It would be the biggest mistake of his life if he were to declare or even think about it. He needs to get his self in shape would be a good start and learn how to not foul so much. There are so many reasons that he needs to stay than they are for him to declare.

I don't know withers home situation, but I'm guessing neither do you...let's say McRae has a kid (which he does) and he's receiving pressure to support his family. I won go into more details, but say his family really needs the money....honestly he SHOULD go, if he doesn't get drafted he will be like Scotty an go overseas and make 6 figures a year and be able to support his family.

We don't know these kids home life is all I'm saying, from a talent an NBA standpoint, both would benefit by coming back...but it's not always that simple.

NBA players make millions. European leagues pay hundreds of thousands of dollars. You could not blame either one, if their families have needs.

Most who declare for the NBA draft aren't ready. Look at Henson, MKG, Anthony Davis, Kendall Marshall (him especially) and too many more to list. Very few are ready but declare based on projected draft position and guaranteed money. Marshall had to declare when you consider that he was drafted at number 13. That's 1.5 million and very enticing, especially after watching Ware's injury. As a kid and parent, i would always take the guaranteed money despite my abilities.

As for the UT kids, no way either should declare UNLESS grades are an issue

You're criticizing the kid that was the consensus #1 pick for leaving early?

NBA teams draft on potential. The way McRae improved and played this year I can see NBA teams taking a chance on him.

Solid NFL prospect? He ran a 4.73 at the combine at 5'9" tall. Those are measurables that don't change much in a year.

I believe they are using the evaluation to provide details of their game that they need to work on over the summer to elevate their draft selection next season. Nothing more than that.
