My takeaway: Can we win a close game? Just one?

About right. Choke in tight situations. Need some clutch shooters.

There - I fixed your last sentence.

I don't consider someone a clutch shooter just because he "shoots" a lot when he is double covered at "clutch" times at the end of games.

I have seen him take and miss some awful shots toward the end of games.

the problem, generally, is teams are not going to let stokes and mcrae beat them at the end of a game.

someone else has to step up.

i said before the game the key to the game was every other guard besides mcrae. tennessee did an outstanding job defensively, but they got 11 points combined from barton, thompson, richardson, reese, and moore.

unfortunately, that wasn't enough.

Obviously. One question tho If Billy D had our team do you think our offense would have only scored 14 points in the second half?

This team is capable of playing with anybody--but the guard play isn't title tough and title good. Need a guy or two with some rocks when it is crunch. It would also help if we had a 6'10 center playing with Stokes and not another 6'8" guy.

The problem with that is Martin is a terrible recruiter.

I disagree with this.

I think he started out taking way too many players too early, basically didn't adjust from taking mid major players. His last class contained Robert Hubbs, Darius Thompson and AJ Davis...all 3 were guys that had multiple high major offers and some from very good programs. This years class has 4 guys that all had high majors offers, some better than others.

If he makes the NCAAT I think you will see the recruiting continue to improve, but that's jmo.

I agree and disagree with Zo being a bad recruiter. I think he has a poor recruiting plan, which leads to poor results. I think when he recruits a kid, he's a very good recruiter. As bTNo wrote, he's offered some very suspect kids early and filled in the roster with some players that had no chance of contributing. He's also gone toe to toe with some big names out there for Hubbs, Stokes, Nichols and Looney.

I think his style resonates with the particular kids he tries to target. But I also think he has recruited kids that don't fit his preferred style, hasn't given himself legitimate fallback option and may think a little too much of his own evaluations where others may not agree.

We beat arkansas in a close game. That's one of the games that no one talks about because it was so early in the year and it was actually a very important game
