Funny, other countries that amass nuclear weapons actually plan strategies to win wars.

Who needs "strategery", how Bush says it, when you can "Make their country into a parking lot.".

Hopefully the world will never have to experience a nuclear detonation over a population center ever again. :cross:

Agreed. IMO the MAD strategy actually leads to the proliferation, even if its main tenet is that if everyone has them no one will use them. This seems a little flawed.

Sorry, the hand on the smile thing was meant to be a good thought, the waving of the flag was me laughing so hard I could not quit so I had to surrender.

Well, I would - if they realized that we - again if - if we led them back to that stalemate only because that our retaliatory power, our seconds, or strike at them after our first strike, would be so destructive that they couldn't afford it, that would hold them off.
Ronald Reagan (1911 - 2004), when asked if nuclear war could be limited to tactical weapons (Verbatim transcript from a press conference)

Has anyone heard about the editorial by William Perry (Clinton admin) and maybe the defense secretary from the Carter admin that advocates us blowing up the NKorean missile while it's still on the launchpad!

I think it's in the Washington Post but I haven't subscribed.

That would be interesting to say the least. I say don't give Bush any bright ideas since he's incapable of thinking for himself.

If that is the case I am quite sure Cheney has his control pad ready to push the fire button once the rocket is launched.

We all know Cheney is the president! :banghead: :blush2:

I've just heard exerpts but these guys basically laid out why the key players "won't mind".

S. Korea - none of their business since the missile threatens the US
Japan - secretly thrilled but cannot say so publicly
China and Russia - concerned but no big deal

At least North Korea actually has WMD's and is threatening. Hey wait, isn't that why we went to Iraq?

For some reason that made me laugh out loud.

But you would still find a problem with military action against N. Korea, right? *Because of W.....*

Here's the article - registration is free so I assume it's okay to link it.

The two guys are from the Clinton admin (one is named Carter that's why I confused one as being from the Carter admin).

Go get'em

We believe diplomacy might have precluded the current situation. But diplomacy has failed, and we cannot sit by and let this deadly threat mature. A successful Taepodong launch, unopposed by the United States, its intended victim, would only embolden North Korea even further. The result would be more nuclear warheads atop more and more missiles.

Scary, where is George Carville and Paul Begala when you need them.........

I'm not worried about action against N. Korea. They're not on W's oil map.

These are guys from the administration that came up with that "iron-clad" treaty with N. Korea to prevent their development of nuclear weapons. Oh wait a minute... :blush2:
