That has better facilities and resources than UT does. Even KY doesn't have facilities that match what we have. Why should we settle for second rate coaching with what we have to offer? Bruce Pearl is the first coach since Ray Mears to bring excitement and actually make us relevant in basketball. Dave Hart is going to have a really tough decision to make in March. Is he going to settle for middle of the road results or is he going to get serious about making us relevant once again?

Season ticket sales will drop next year just as donations will.

I don't think that we are settling for a second rate coach. No one else really wanted the job when it was open. That is why we ended up with the 10th person on Hamilton's list....

Money talks, Hart needs to open up the bank account and hire a "proven" coach. UT should never be a training ground for up and coming coaches!

History suggests otherwise. I am pretty confident in saying that we will not pay another buyout until football gets straightened out.

AD's love their own coach. So if Cuonzo fails they will make a change.

I dont think Hart can trot a team that loses its guts that never made the tournament out there. We should make the tourney and if not then folks will have given up on Cuonzos future.

this is the dumbest argument being thrown out on the board right now.

you pay for a good coach and you'll get a good coach. you pay for a guy thats never been to the NCAA tourney, and that's what you get.

the man CCM got abused by today was available.

Jerry Green actually did well the few years he was here.

He was also a horrible ambassador for the program. He did as little as possible.

What no one can deny about Pearl is he knew how to market the program. He was definitely part salesman but people bought it. And that is something that definitely hurts Martin.

He had a good record because he was loaded with talent left behind by O'Neill. He basically rolled the ball out on the court and said go play.

I agree when Green was here we played like it was a pick up game at the local rec center. But it was exciting to watch Tony Harris and them boys running wild up and down the floor. If that team had some good coaching they would have been a lot better than they was

Failing is not making the field of 68. Not 19 plus wins.

and when they did land in the NIT,just roll over and gave up

I don't have no faith in Hart making any kind of a good decision as in letting CCM go or hiring anybody good

How much longer is CCMs contract ?

i think this is the up to date one Air Force

Martin's deal pays out $1.3 million annually and runs through the 2015-16 season.

If Martin jumps ship during the next two seasons, he'll owe the university $2.6 million. If he accepts an outside job offer over the final two years of the deal, that number drops to $1.3 million.

Cuonzo Martin, Tennessee agree to contract » GoVolsXtra

that was from July 9, 2012

if anybody wants to read, here is a link and no,i didn't read it :)

Dave Hart's decision is not tough.
It's just inevitable.
And by March, it'll be overdue.

I was making this same argument the other day. There is no reason Tennessee shouldn't be able to rank among the elite programs in college basketball because we certainly have the resources. Throw some $$$$ at Shaka Smart at VCU!!!!
