Nascar just doesn't seem the same this season.

Ok,that's really not what I'm talking about because that was a problem with the old car too and nothing new for this season.

And don't you take a shot at me saying I'm not watching
the race and not expect a response. What did you expect?

Right, competition, to me, is when cars can go out and race side-by-side, for the lead or for 23rd, and make it entertaining.* Instead, a guy gets in front and can stay there.* That's not necessarily NASCAR or the new car's fault, but it's the way it is.* The cars are going too fast and too aero-dependent for exciting racing to occur.

Wasn't a shot at you, you obviously took it wrong and decided to pick a fight. You misunderstood me and we apparently have different definitions of 'competition'. I haven't seen a race this season with good competition, other than the Daytona 500.

It's only the first full season for this car. They should make improvements as time goes on. But as long as I can remember, cars get spread out on the 1.5 or 2 mile tracks so I don't really know what they can do.

honestly the reason I've grown tired of NASCAR is the fact that it now extends from February through November. That itself is way too long. Way too long. I'm so burnt out on caring by the time the Chase comes around, I don't really care who wins.

In an earlier thread I posted if I were the Czar of NASCAR one of the things I would do is shorten the season, but even more I would shorten the race distances so the race would be over in around 2 hours. You would see a lot less cruising and more charging.

The Pheonix race had tons of side by side racing. The race between Johnson and Martin could have been one for the ages if fuel mileage hadn't screwed it up. I would gladly have given up my bonus points to see Mark win.

for the record, even I watched the final 54 laps. The first 54 laps I've watched all season.

Since Dale Sr. died I havn't followed nascar near as much.

Really dont know why ???
Thats because dale sr. was nascar. It has never been the same for me either. I followed harvick for a couple of years afterward. Mostly because he was in dale's old ride i guess. Yeah its become to commericalized and they police the drivers way to much now. Now with the cot, they are taking the crew chiefs out of it more and more too. They are slowing killing what was a great sport at one time.

If I'm not mistaken, one of the criticisms of the COT is that it gets unruly when the air around it is disturbed. I believe I heard that this is why drivers are reluctant to race side-by-side. It wants to suck over sideways.

Technical term, that...suck over sideways...

I absolutely agree. It's come to the point that drivers are not allowed to be human anymore and show emotion or call a spade a spade. NASCAR has become a dictatorship that punishes anybody who speaks their mind. They want politically correct corporate robots. I grew up hearing about the old school drivers and how feuds were sometimes settled with bare knuckles(1979 Daytona 500). It saddens me sometimes when I think about how much NASCAR has changed but I still love it too much to ever walk away from it.

As many on here know, I have followed NASCAR for 45+ years, and I have seen those dispute settlements. My Dad owned a Sportsman (now Nationwide) series car, and at those races, you sometimes had to beat them after the race too! I agree with you 100%, the only thing I have to add is that the competiveness of the racing is much greater now. Most races were won by laps, not seconds.

I see you pull for several underdogs, my kind of fan. My last real "hero" was Kulwicki.
