Nascar will suffer when these guys leave IMO.

The problem isn't the races, the competition is greater and closer than it's ever been. As long as they throw the ridiculous debris cautions to keep the "show" close at the end, fans will still buy tickets and lap it up.

Still probably 7-10 years from guys like Stewart and Gordon even thinking about retirement, so there's plenty of time for someone to emerge.

Not so fast my friend.
When I was the head tech official at Talladega Short Track Tony would come over and run a car whenever he was in town. Afterwords he would come up in the tower and just hang out all night. Totally down to earth cool as Hell guy. But he told us he was miserable. He said he got into Nascar for the competition but that he was sick of the politics. Is why he mnoved back home to Indiana from Carolina. Every year when we would ask him how he was he would hold up on his fingers how many years he had left on his contract. He said "Gimmee however many more years and I will be fine." He has been buying up the best known Dirt tracks around. I am not so sure he will be around like Mark Martin. I would look for him to make an early exit to do something else.

I know that the tickets sales and TV ratings have nothing to do with the post popular drivers being in Nascar or not. The declining ticket sales and TV ratings, along with the most popular drivers not being there will make it worse on Nascar. Those are just a couple of problems that Nascar has and will have. The Chase, the lucky dog pass, the constant rules change, the obvious favoritsm, the "debris" cautions, the stupid fines, etc. are just a few examples of why Nascar is becoming a joke.
:good!:

Sadly Jenn I think it's already gotten to that point :banghead2:

yeah i guess to some extent, but eventually some young guy is gonna have to come in and start winnning some races........Gordon came in and everyone knew he was going to be special, and Jr was considered a threat on restrictor plate tracks even when he was young.... None of the new guys are that much of a threat week in and week out; Carl looked like he might be a few years ago but he had slacked off tremendously (just ask him hauler driver :) )
