National Champion vs. Worst Team in the NFL

Many years ago College All Stars played against, if memory serves, the Super bowl Champs. I remember Bradshaw and the Steelers playing a few of these games.

A group of College All-Stars played against the defending NFL champions or Super Bowl champions every year except 1935 (when the Bears represented the pros). The series was cancelled in 1977, with the NFL champs holding a commanding lead (31-9-2).

Some of that time also encompasses when the college game was a better product than the professional game.

I think it comes down to the O Line vs the D Line

An NFL O line would dominate even the Best College D Line. And a NFL D Line would Dominate the College O line

Then you gotta think about NFL CBs vs College WRs. The NFL guys would shut the college guys down

Everything you said is accurate. Also, NFL RBs would break college tackles

It was always the first exhibition game of the year. The college all-stars would play the previous NFL champions. Usually, the geme wasn't close, with the NFL winning. I can't remember when they stopped all of that.

I don't think any single college team could beat the worst NFL team. But, given the right year, I think the top players in college could(not would) beat the worst NFL team.

No NFL team is fielding 30 1st round draft picks. If it's a deep draft, I wouldn't rule out a team made up of the top 60 players against a team like the 0-16 Lions.

Look at all of the pro players USC and Texas produced on their national championship team. If you combine the best players in college football that year, they'd definitely have a chance to beat the 0-16 Lions.

1994, 1995 Nebraska team would have given a bad NFL team of that era a run for their money. Those guys were so jacked on steroids they didn't care who it was they were going to run over, around and through you. I know everyone says 2001 Miami, but that Nebraska team was the most physically punishing team i can remember in college.

Anyone that says a mid 2000's USC team could beat an NFL team is sorely mistaken, because Matt Leinart couldn't beat any NFL teams with pro players around him.

The 1994 Nebraska team barely beat the 1994 Miami team. 2001 Canes beat them and the 1995 edition.
Miami was flashy, made you fall in love. Nebraska would just knock your teeth out. Miami was more talented overall, but Tommy Frazier and that team were bad ass.

You make it seem like those Miami teams had weak linemen.

Yeah, I'm sure if you give a team of college all-stars an entire offseason to prepare to take on the NFL's worst team, they probably would win.

ok we all know the worst team in the NFL would beat the National Champion. My question is...if you took College Football's All-American team and faced them against this worst NFL team...

So this year it would be the Carolina Panthers

Carolina Depth Chart

NCAA All Americans

The NCAA would get beaten down.

The Panthers wouldn't have to throw the ball more than 12 times.

Not sure why this is even a debate.

But one thing that can be said is that the College game has evolved. And College kids that are really good, can start in the NFL right away and do well. There isn't a hugh strength and speed difference between the your "fast" NFL guys and your "fast" College guys. It's the mental part of the game that separates to two worlds.

I think Cincy is the exception to this rule. They'd find a way to lose to my old high school team.

My old high school team ran the same play on every down. It was quite embarrassing.

Jimmy Clausen wouldn't be the 3rd or 4th best QB in college right now. Although Carolina would win, Carolina vs. All-American team would be closer than some think.
