Okay, Cal beats USC-USC beats Notre Dame; WVU-UL-Rutgers play the round robin knock each other out game; Nebraska beats Texas in rematch at Big 12 Championship game; UT wins out and ARK beats UF in the SEC championship game; OSU-UM Winner plays UT in the BCS Championship game in Phoenix on January 8, 2007. That is my expectation. As it wins out, Tennessee passes Auburn in the BCS polls.

you'd need auburn to lose again....if we both win out, and auburn doesn't go to the SEC CG auburn will stay ranked ahead of us.

If UT beats LSU and Arkansas at ARK then it is feasible to pas AU. However, we could cheer for the Tide to pull the upset.:cray:

either way, that's a lot that has to happen....and while it alll is possible today...i'll just be happy to win the next ball game...and worry about all the other stuff later....

I sure hope that happens. More likely WHEN we win out there is a BCS bid but not the NC.

That is a lot to ask for, I mean a lot. We are going to need help, but Tennessee has to take care of their business first. LSU and Arkansas will be tough games.

I think it's a remote possibility that we could still play in the national championship game if we win out, but I think that would have to include winning the SEC championship. I don't think we can sneak in at 11-1 as a non-conference champion.

I think next year is the year to realistically talk about the Vols going the the NC. It's just not happening this year =\

I really hope it happens but w/ the next 3 games its seems a remote possibility at best. BUT if we stay healthy anything can happen.
Just had a thought if we beat SC,LSU,ARK then UK & Vandy there will be serious talk about making UT #2 cause thats a rough road
but alot depends on UF losing another game. I dont see it happening today against UGA but SC has a very good chance.

Who would have thought that with only 1 loss and playing in the SEC would give us no shot to go to the NC and not play in the conference title game.

I agree with SWIL that next year looks like a good possibility to make it to the title game.

Don't forget that next year you go to Gainesville to face what should be a much improved Florida team. Harvin and Tebow with a year under their belts and the offensive line having a year of experience, too.

No Swain or Smith. Probably no Meachem. We lose our two best offensive linemen. We lose our 2 best D-linmen, and two of our best in the secondary. I think that asking for a national championship next year might be a little much. If we had made the coaching changes a year earlier, 2005 would have been our best shot.

It is a little strange to think the front-runner for the SEC East will be "much improved" by loosing it's Heisman-hopeful senior quarterback will improve by starting a Sophomore T-formation specialist in his place.

I will admit, however, that those odd years for us are tough, when we have to go to Bama, Florida, and one of the rotating west teams, and you can toss in Cal for good measure in '07.

Although we should have been alot better than 5-6, our schedule in 2005 was impossible: @ Florida, @LSU, @Bama, @Notre Dame, with UGa and USC in Knoxville.

National Championships are not built on such a season.

Florida is making a decent run at the championship game with a schedule that is quite difficult.

Yeah, I think our NC chances are shot. There are just too many one loss teams out there ahead of us. Logistically, there is a very very very slim chance it happens, but we'd need some miracles to happen in the next couple of weeks, I just don't see it happening.

We just need to win out the rest of the year and let the cards fall where they will, anything better than us having such a good year this year period is just icing on the cake.

question?.....will we play in a BCS bowl.....what's considered the next best bowl other than a BCS bowl?

They have a loss, and need a lot of help to get there. It takes a lot of luck and a lot of help to go through a schedule like that unscathed.

Florida has been very fortunate, I agree. I do give Meyer and defensive coordinator Charlie Strong a lot of credit for making this Florida team tougher. Especially so on defense.

Florida had ten penalties yesterday, but 8 were on the offense and one was special teams. Nonetheless, Florida has some very fast and gifted athletes on defense this year. I think that has clearly been the key to their success so far.

We still have four conference games left, two really tough teams and a Vandy team that can beat us if we get too overconfident.

We complained about the Cocks saying they can win the SEC East all week, now we are getting ahead of ourselves like they did.

LSU should be our chief concern, and anything else shouldn't be on the radar screen.
