National Championship Possibility

We still have four conference games left, two really tough teams and a Vandy team that can beat us if we get too overconfident.

We complained about the Cocks saying they can win the SEC East all week, now we are getting ahead of ourselves like they did.

LSU should be our chief concern, and anything else shouldn't be on the radar screen.

Dear god- if Vandy beats us two years in a row I don't think I could take it.

For most of the posters on this board, in your twenties and thirties, you may live to see Vandy beat UT once more in your lifetime, just as you may be around to witness the return of Halley's comet. For us in the forties and fifties.......nah, no chance.

No Swain or Smith. Probably no Meachem. We lose our two best offensive linemen. We lose our 2 best D-linmen, and two of our best in the secondary. I think that asking for a national championship next year might be a little much. If we had made the coaching changes a year earlier, 2005 would have been our best shot.

What two offensive linemen will we lose, I know we will lose our best in Sears, but who else? Yeh we will lose Harrell and McBride, but we have gotten along without Harrell and I really think Bolden and Mitchell can fill the shoes. Antwan Stewart is not 2nd best in the secondary, Johnathan Hefney is.

I said two of our best DBs, not our two best. I believe David Ligon is gone after this year, also. Bolden has been a huge disappointment so far. We will be fine with our defensive ends, but we don't have any great ones at DT. That is why we are consistently gashed up the middle.

We do lose Ligon, but you said our two best and Eric Young is coming back. Bolden I think is a player that will improve over time and we still do have Mapu. Consistently gashed up the middle??? We have only allowed one 100 yard runner this season.

Apparently you did not watch South Carolina's running game make us look foolish last night. We have done a good job stopping the run against Cal. Other than that... it hasn't been great.

Also, I'm not so sure I'd say that Eric Young is our second best on the O-line. He'll be a good player someday, but he's not exactly All-SEC at this point.

i disagree, i think young is having a good season, and even if he wasn't, who is the least terrible out of the rest?

It doesn't pertain to the point I am making. The point is that we are very thin on our O-Line. We are losing two of our best starters next year. That's not a good thing any way you look at it.

i thought the point you were trying to make was "eric young isnt the second best on the o-line" to which i would say "yes he is"

i understand what you are getting at, but our o line will be fine with a year under their belts, and we have a knack for plugging up holes in said o-line. this year was more or less an anamoly when it comes to the linemen anyways. i mean, the pass protection is stellar, but do you ever remember them being this bad as run blockers?

I hear ya, but I really don't like us getting too over our heads. I want the boys to take home another title as much as anybody, but we just can't get too ahead of ourselves.

I'm thrilled to see the team play so well this year, but we have to take it one step at a time. If it's meant to happen, things will fall into place.

You can say he is, but that doesn't make it so. I'd take Ligon over him. I wouldn't say we've never had problems reloading our O-line? Remember 2002? That O-line was so bad it was painful to watch.
