Navy vs Notre Dame

Is it just me, or is Gary Danielson like some cranky-ass, negative, overly-critical old fart?

They have a sophomore QB with no previous experience and will face #1 USC, #4 Oklahoma, #8 Michigan, #13 Michigan St, #21 Stanford, Miami and BYU. You're a lot more optimistic for Notre Dame than I am.

Kinda what im thinkin, they look really good agaisnt Navy, but its Navy. I wish Ireland got a better game than this

You really don't think they can beat Stanford...?

There is a decent chance they blow Miami out of the stadium. Miami is young on defense and may struggle at times.

They could lose those games, obviously, but they'll be in them. They nearly had Michigan beat last season. They crushed Mich St last season.

I just think they're a solid football team. I hate them, but they're pretty good on both sides of the ball. And have three good RBs and an unguardable TE.

Navy finally makes a play.

Was in the process of typing I can't believe I woke up so early for this game.

They can beat Stanford but Stanford could beat them. That schedule will take a toll on Notre Dame thus I don't think they can beat everyone on it.

The reason I don't put a ton of stock in the Stanford-San Jose game is because after staring 0-2 and losing to App State, Michigan rolled off 8 wins in a row and finished 9-4 with a win over Florida. Same with Virginia Tech, they started off 0-2 with a loss to James Madison and won 11 in a row. Albeit Stanford lost a bunch of key players. Obviously Notre Dame can beat them but I still think Stanford could beat Notre Dame. Given their schedule, I would expect a sophomore QB in his first year to have a couple of games with a handful of turnovers. Even Glennon had 4ints against our Vols last night. I could see some defenses having a field day against this kid.

Just when Navy was giving me hope, they go and do something like that. They look pretty bad.

I would think Notre Dame could beat Stanford even if Stanford looked great last night.

I get what you mean. We're almost saying the same thing. They're capable but it's not like they'll just roll their team out there and crush teams on their schedule. Every single game will be a test.

Also... I get that the announcers are trying to hype Tuitt up... but let's not act like he did anything on that play but run a sprint. C'mon.

I bet Navy wouldn't see an onside kick coming if ND wanted an easy recovery lol. 27-0... ouch

Tuitt is a big big ole boy. Navy's line just can't handle him.

I'd love to play ND this year. Bring 'em on up to Neyland.

Take a timeout and throw to the end zone? Smart move coach...

Can't believe he didn't even take a shot.

Haha, freshman kicker ends the half with points for Navy.

What will everyone else be watching today? Doesn't seem to be a lot of good games. All I can come up with is...

12:00 Northwestern @ Syracuse - ESPN
12:00 Marshall @ (11)West Virginia - FX
3:30 Southern Miss @ (17)Nebraska - ABC/ESPN2
3:30 Miami @ Boston College - ABC/ESPN2
7:00 (14)Clemson vs. Auburn - ESPN
7:30 Hawaii @ #1 USC - FOX
8:00 (8)Michigan vs. (2)Alabama - ABC

Southern Miss has a new coach, Marshall/Hawaii will probably get slaughtered and I'm not sure I care about Northwestern/Syracuse. The two best looking games could be beatdowns too. Aren't most people expecting Clemson to kill Auburn? I wouldn't be surprised if Alabama shuts Denard down.

One game I am interested in and I know nobody else will be is Iowa vs. Northern Illinois at Soldier Field. I like watching their games because I live in Iowa City and all my friends are Hawkeye fans. Iowa was only 7-6 last year while Northern Illinois was 10-3. Most Iowa fans don't think it will be a game but I'm hoping it will be.

Maybe also peek in on Wisconsin/Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa only lost to both Iowa and Iowa State by like a point the last two years. Wisconsin is obviously way better but Northern Iowa is scrappy sometimes.

Navy's run defense is looking like one of the worst things I've ever seen.
