Navy's Paul Johnson to GA Tech

Johnson might make it two in a row over Richt on his way to a conference championship this year.

Long run, I don't think he can recruit enough talent to win big at Georgia Tech.

What do you mean by win big?

Paul Johnson has a great class going right now
4* Denzel Mccoy
4* Anthony Williams
4* Ryan Ayers
4* Isaiah Johnson
4* B.J. Bostic

The thing is, I don't think he has to.

I was telling someone that today. The ACC is awful, but when they defeated Virginia Tech I was impressed. I've watched a few games they've played and they're really good. I'm shocked that his system is working in a major conference.

I mean multiple conference championships and Orange Bowl appearances.

It's going to take more than a half dozen 4-star recruits to compete with the nation's elite programs.

Though, in the current ACC, it doesn't take much.

For my money, Gary Patterson's season has been more impressive than Johnson's.

Paul Johnson will beat UGA exactly at the moment Hell freezes over. He's Bobby Johnson in the ACC.

wow, really? I'm excited they picked up PJ. And with a perfect qb for his system already there, I think they can beat uga at least once in the next 2 years. PJ's GA Southern teams were amazing. They almost beat UGA in 04 running his offense... i know he wasnt there but they were still running PJ's offense.

Since we're bumping this thread. :whistling:

I think we will be fine. Our OL won't be good until Paul Johnson has his own OL recruits become junior and seniors. We've got some young players in the program that look great.

Patterson is someone who for sure needs to get a call by a big time AD after this season.

He's had calls before...even had offers...

He's obviously got a good situation in Forth Worth. But, everybody's got a price. He'll end up in a big-time program.

He's sitting in a good spot. He'll get that right job one day.

You don't have to compete for the national championship to be successful at Georgia Tech. Just compete for the ACC championship regularly and beat Georgia once every 3-4 years and you're golden.

When Tech fired Chan Gailey, I told a Tech alum friend of mine that Johnson would be perfect for them because A) his system can be a great talent equalizer, and B) he's probably the only successful coach in the country for whom the academic standards at Tech would be a breeze compared to what he was used to. It seemed like a perfect fit before his name even came up. It's worked out pretty well so far.

I think Gary Patterson likes his situation at TCU. He really wants to build a program and the MWC with the Horned frogs. Look at all his post-game quotes, they are mostly about getting the MWC the respect it deserves.

I know he got his feelings hurt at MWC media days when Dave Christensen didn't come and kiss his ass

Re: Gary Patterson, unless the unlikely occurrence of the MWC getting a BCS bid (which they still deserve IMO) happens... Expect to see him jump ship to a big time program at some point.
