‘23 NC DL Daevin Hobbs (Tennessee commit)

Its true, but in our defense, the playoffs weren't around last time we were relevant either.

Yes, and Tennessee would've made it in 97, 95, and maybe 99. But we didn't win 2 NCs in 3 years. Clemson's run was phenomenal and would be recognized as an all-time great run if it weren't in the same era as Bama's dynasty.

These ppl act like UT is giving up almost 40 a game on defense like Vandy or something. We are just under 22 which is almost top 30 in the country. That’s what matters. And that’ll work just fine when you score 47 ppg. All the empty yards teams get while they are down 25 don’t really bother me. It skews the stats for sure. There’s only been a couple games where they truly got torched. Sure we have major secondary concerns that are getting addressed in recruiting but still not bad for yr 2.

Agreed. Hopefully we can return to previous form and get more opportunities in the current system .

I’ve never understood why defense and offense is ranked on yardage and not points given up/scored.

I'll take 2 Nattys in 3 years and 6 straight playoff appearances. Tennessee hasn't had a run like that.

Not disagreeing with any of that, but my thought on that statement in the UGA post wasn’t accomplishments related, it was recruiting related. The reason it was funny, is because historically, UT is the recruiting juggernaut.. not Clemson. The truth is Clemson came in and started pulling players from areas that UT was historically good recruiting in, even stealing a couple big time commitments from Knoxville alone, and all during a time when UT was on a downward trend on the field. We can’t become the “new Clemson..” when the reality is Clemson really became the “new Tennessee..” during the last 7-10 years or whatever it’s been. That’s the laughable part to me. We aren’t becoming the “‘new Clemson..” in recruiting, we are just trying to get back to where we were. And the post is right, let us get to the CFP and the route back to where we were gets quicker.

I love this one

“UT is Oklahoma lmao. Bad defense doesn’t win in the CFP.”

Lol we’re 11-1 in the SEC bro with wins over the top 2 teams in the west. It’s year 2 bro and we have very little talent on defense. Again, puppy fans are duuuuuuummb

Just their preferred brand of copium.

To be fair, I'd hope the same if I was them and watched Kirby struggle for 5 years to finally beat Alabama while running a criminally conservative offense.

They can pretend that they could of held this offense to 17pts all day long if they had to, but Kirby chose to run that clock for a reason.

Agreed. Points/game is all that matters. Plus, as fast as UT scores it gives the other offenses a lot more opportunities. Take rushing defense for example. They are on par or just barely behind UGA from a YPC perspective and Yds/game is only 20 more per game. However, look into that more and teams have run the ball on UT 60 more times than UGA over the course of the season. Rush defense has been amazing. Passing D has been abysmal at times but even they have bent but not broken many times this season. The only way teams have been able to keep up with UTs O is to pass a lot.

Our defense is so bad, but the only team scoring into the 30’s since Florida’s late luck due to us taking our foot off the gas has been Bama.

40-13 LSU
44-6 KY
66-24 Mizz
13-24 Ga
Horrible defense there

Our defense definitely isn’t horrible. It’s solid. We’re still lacking in talent on that side of the ball though if we want to remain a consistent playoff contender each year. It looks like our recruiting though is closing that gap.
