‘23 NC DL Daevin Hobbs (Tennessee commit)

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Daevin Hobbs took the pass at the left side of the key. He dribbled to the baseline, neatly avoiding two defenders, and smoothly leaped past another defender, softly putting the ball on the backboard for a layup. It was the kind of move you’d expect from an athlete with a basketball player’s body – tall, lean, athletic. Except Daevin Hobbs is 6-7 and 275 pounds.

...“I’ve always liked basketball. In addition to being something I enjoy, it also helps keep me in shape.” Don’t get the idea that Hobbs is a big-body athlete who is on the basketball court merely to clog up the lane and get rebounds. He gets plenty of rebounds – a game-high 13 of them Tuesday, along with three blocks and a team-high 17 points.

6’7 and 275? Kind of reminds me of Clowney coming out of HS.

Just saw this from on3 about day 1 standout performers:

No defensive lineman on the East had more juice than five-star Tennessee signee Daevin Hobbs. The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder moved around the line, lining up at defensive end and on the interior, showing burst at each spot. Hobbs also showed impressive reactive quickness in 1-on-1’s in being able to redirect and make secondary moves in 1-on-1’s. Hobbs has considerable room to develop as he’s yet to fully focus on defense. – Charles Power
