'25 NC DL Isaiah Campbell

Not sure what you’ve seen from Simmons over the past 4 years to think he’s getting drafted. He’s been more of a VN hero than a highly productive DT. Hope he ends his career here on a high note and gets a shot at the NFL butt at this point he looks like an UDFA in my opinion.
3 things are certain in life: Death, taxes, and posters trying to find the logic in a D4H post. Might as well try to find that mysterious 'X' my math teacher was always asking me about.

Did you not watch the first play of the game this past Saturday? He set the tone for the entire game by throwing the guard into the backfired and nearly blowing up the hand-off between the quarterback and running back. I could care less how he's looked the last 4 years. This year he looks like a beast. He's always been huge. But I've been impressed by his get off. He's exploding off the ball and wrecking havoc. If we make it to the national title game playing the way we've been playing thus far on the d-line then I guarantee you he will be drafted.
Yea, I’ve watched every game since he’s been at UT and I can recall him making a couple impressive plays towards the end of last season. Maybe he’s made a couple this season also. Still can’t imagine him getting drafted unless he explodes the rest of the season. I guess we will see, but I’m hoping for him that your right!

D4H ain’t wrong on Simmons…at least as to his performance THIS SEASON. Monster against Oklahoma! They didn’t have an answer.

If Garner retires in the near future, I’m guessing Chop is being groomed as the replacement.

So the only way he gets drafted is if we make it to the NC? lol. Simmons looks good at times. But he is very inconsistent. Highly doubt he gets drafted unless he improves significantly.

No. It's just that winning brings players more attention so it's unlikely to get overlooked. If we make it to the natty then a play like the one Simmons made on the first play against Oklahoma if it were happen in the national title game would have all the NFL coaches and GMs salivating. Winning has that sort of affect on your draft stock.

If you're an NFL team you also worry if Simmons would maintain a good weight standing without the structure of college

It would be a pleasant surprise for sure.

Yeah he was fantastic in that OU game. That said I want to see him do that more. He’s been great this year. OU was pretty banged up on the Oline. Again not to take anything away from Simmons he just needs to prove it more vs some more teams and better Olines.

I don’t think it’s possible with our rotation and snap count, don’t get me wrong I believe he can but when you have the luxury of great depth you use it…but because of that luxury other good lineman might have their “big game” or “big moment” simply because they got an opportunity in that series where a stunt was called and that gave them free reign to make a play on the ball or they simply got to be in on a big 3rd down.

I guess all I’m saying is we have several DL that can do it and not enough snaps to go around sometimes so even he does play like Oklahoma every game it doesn’t always show in the stat sheet, which is a great problem to have

Maybe. However the flip side of that is those snaps they do take they can put 100% into and you don’t have as many nagging issues pop up over the course of a season. He’s going to have the opportunity to put some good tape together for the draft this year, a lot of guys are.

Campbell's a bona fide terror on the field. After racking up 110 tackles, 27 TFL, 16 sacks and 36 QB hurries last year in 11 games, he's upped his production so far this season with 57 tackles, 15 TFL, 9 sacks and 34 QB hurries in just 5 games.

Good piece from Sep '23: "...in Southern Durham’s 14-0 victory last week over Bull City rival Hillside at historic Duke County Memorial Stadium, he demonstrated his readiness. The game was scoreless until Campbell’s sack on a third-and-5 forced a punt. His explosive burst splitting two linemen into the backfield was a cowboy scene from of an old western — swatting open swinging doors to enter the saloon...“To block him in high school one on one is suicidal,” said Darius Robinson, Southern Durham’s 10th-year head coach."
