Yeah with Rodney Garner consistently closing all these top tier DLs like he has for a long time, before and after NIL, I still don't buy that our recruiting/transfer classes are middle of the SEC because we keep getting outbid... I'm not saying it doesn't happen every once and a while, but Garner has demonstrated to me that we can close top tier talent across all positions at Tennessee if we had decent closers.

Makes me wonder where our classes would be ranked if he wasn't here.

If only Rodney Garner was our WR/OL coach/recruiter!!

And? You're laughing at yourself?

IF what you believe were true then OU wouldn't have sucked and Bama wouldn't have lost to Vandy. Roughly half the teams on that list weren't very good. But according to you the recruiting rankings are an absolute predicter of which teams will/won't be good. That's why you've always been wrong. ALWAYS. You ignore more than half the data. I've never said that recruiting rankings mean "nothing". Most talented teams will also be ranked in the top 25 by the recruiting sites. They simply aren't as accurate and foretelling as YOU argue they are.

And again, for good reason. Why do they exist? Because coaches need them? No. They exist to serve CONSUMERS. For that reason they hedge their bets by doing things like setting a specific number of 5* grades they hand out. If they were the master evaluators you claim then they would do true qualitative evals on every player. One year they might have 30 5* players... the next they might have 80. They intentionally do things to make themselves look more accurate than they are... and even then they aren't all that accurate. They also tend to give higher grades to players who have interest from top tier programs. Half of that is because those programs find good players... the other half is that their fanbases buy subscriptions, click links, and watch podcasts.

Seven of the 12 playoff teams are on that list but if you were right then all of them should have been. And did a team like Clemson really belong? You point to the teams that succeeded and say, "See there". But the teams that fail completely undermine your belief as do teams that significantly overperform.
