Watching his Hudl, and he's definitely an athletic freak. On the one hand, it would be fascinating to see what this coaching staff could do with him after a few years. That said, I hope he isn't a take based solely on he's too raw and too much of a project. I think we need more 'plug and play' guys. Not necessarily starting freshman... but guys who can earn significant playing time along the lines in year 2.

If you think about it, we're already taking two relatively raw projects in this class in Akporoghene and McBride. Both, like this kid, have about 1 year or so playing experience.

RAW guys who are smart and take in the information are the best to coach because you can develop them your way and not have to break a lot of bad habits.

Big Akp and McBride are on the OL tho. Dont see how that affects DL. Bring on the African connection. Kongbo, Bituli, Akporogene, EJ, Ndogba Ogar, Asaborp. There are some more in the radar all but athletic dudes. Some with great story's on how they ended up here.

I bet he's a smart kid.

With a guy like this, the defense could use Wisdom to get a few batted balls for easy interceptions.

If this kid drank too many beers (when he is legally able), he would just Wisdom out in no time.

This name came up in a 247 article. 6-8 280 DL from Nigeria with limited football experience. Was originally part of the 2020 class but is signing for 2019. Does anyone know anything about him?

From RC in response to a question on him:

Tennessee offered Asaboro a few months ago, and as mentioned in the story, he visited the Vols for their home finale against Missouri. He’s an intriguing prospect who has picked up several major offers, but he’s still really raw. He’s originally from Nigeria and only has played football for about a year and a half.
I don’t know for sure how old he is, but international transfers can be tricky because the school systems are different. Asaboro basically has had the option of being finished with school this spring since he returned to the U.S. and enrolled at Covenant Day over the summer — he was previously at another school, then had to go back to Nigeria for a while — but it was a matter of whether he wanted to go ahead and be part of the 2019 class or just wait to graduate in December and be part of the 2020 class.
Because of how raw he is, his position is still somewhat up in the air. Most people seem to be recruiting him as a defensive lineman, but offensive tackle always could be a possibility because of his size. He’s pretty athletic, though, so having a guy with that kind of size and enough athleticism is always going to be interesting on the defensive line.

It was mentioned that he knows Chris Akporoghene - apparently he's trying to line up visits at the last minute. Was at UNC this past weekend.

Def an OT. But raw, and I’ve heard things about work ethic and attitude. He was kicked out of the school Navy Shuler is at

It recently was determined that Asaboro would be part of the 2019 class. The late notice on his class designation meant Asaboro and his inner circle had to act quickly on assembling an official-visit schedule, and he started by scheduling an official visit to North Carolina last weekend.

With his visit with the Tar Heels now behind him, he could squeeze his final four official visits into the final three weekends leading up to National Signing Day on Feb. 6. He said he has yet to schedule his final two visits, but Oregon and Penn State are among the schools in the running for visits following his planned trips to Virginia and Tennessee.
Asaboro said he primarily played on the defensive line during the 2018 season, but he's being recruited by most schools as a potential defensive lineman or offensive lineman.
