'25 NC OT David Sanders (Tennessee)

According to the Ohio State board (eleven warriors) there is a lot of optimism that he will come back again to Columbus this weekend for the Michigan game- what I’m reading on here doesn’t point to that. Anyone know?
Many on the OSU side are expecting to flip soon

I’m a grown man and I’ve seen enough to usually just wish the kids well. I invested about 25 minutes into his little boo hoo fest and since I happened to be at my parents house my 80 year father watched it too and seemed genuinely excited. I’m going to make an exception in this case and wish him an extremely mediocre and injury free career.

Really a crap situation. Have the #1 OT in the country and another 5star OT then lose both of them. One lost so late in the cycle that it’s almost impossible to replace him. It’s mostly about money but it’s about more than money.

Absolutely. I’m just going to concentrate on flipping Brame and Anes and so far keeping all 3 of the D players from Georgia away from Kirby. We were always going to the portal for the OL this offseason no matter what. But no doubt it’s embarrassing and frustrating.

Meanwhile, an AU team that is likely not making a bowl game is on fire on the recruiting trail. I can’t understand why we don’t seem to be recruiting at a higher level. We’re pretty likely to finish middle of the pack in the SEC. With our success under heupel combined with a strong NIL program it doesn’t add up.

Bc some teams are still willing to go ā€œthat extra mileā€. Auburn has always been one of them.

He was the best. Dude would have been a 10-12 yr NFL guy if he hadn’t blown his knee
I wonder if the modern surgery technology would have saved his career. I’ve often thought of Chuck Webb to in regards to the modern surgery technology available now vs then.

this.

Take it or leave it, but Basilio said a few minutes ago that there is a 90% chance he flips.
90% chance Basilio has no idea. That said visits this late when a guy was locked in aren’t good. Idk who the handler is on Sanders but I would never get in a situation where you had to overpay or scramble again.

We don’t have a staff of great recruiters. And frankly, we could use some staff upgrades, in general.

Even the Ohio state folks are calling this situation crappy- of course they will happily take him but many are saying how much BS it is to be committed for so long- hold a spot then potentially flip on signing week leaving Vols with next to zero time to backfill.

I get it happens every year but still.

Hope it’s all smoke and mirrors- but for such an intentional commitment this is just all bizarre.

Recruiting to culture vs recruiting to recruit.

Vols will continue to be better than AUB on the field.
