'26 NC QB Faizon Brandon (Tennessee commit)

Look at the teams that have won titles. Very few start proven transfers at QB. Will Howard at OSU was kind of an exception. McCarthy at UM. Burrow wasn’t that proven when he transferred to LSU. Bennett at UGA (wasn’t a transfer).

Most by of the teams that win championships do so with non transfer QBs.

Given how new the portal is, that’s an insanely small sample size. Even then, you’re intentionally excluding one of the portal guys (Burrow) who won a NC to make your sample size even less. And yet you’re attempting to draw some baseless conclusion on that?

Impressive.

It’s changing. I anticipate more transfers winning. And just because you don’t win the Natty doesn’t mean you lack success. I don’t know the numbers overall, but many of the teams in the playoffs had transfer quarterbacks.

Honestly, it just seems smarter to let players prove themselves somewhere else and then pay the big money to bring them in. As we see with Nico and many others in his class it’s riskier to pay big money to a high school recruit.

sure thing here.
I appreciate your confidence. I’m not pessimistic at all, just considering a change in strategy if CFB continues as is. The transfer portal has become way better for talent than when we we’re settling for guys like Milton

You can easily get a top 10 pick in the draft every year with the right amount of money

I mean, Nico was fine last year, just not what you want from a 5 star in his second year with room to grow.

Guys like Hendon Hooker didn't even attempt a pass through their first two seasons in college.

You keep getting these high 4 star, 5 star QB's, one is bound to end up being a complete stud early.

Sure, but why pay a premium for so many when you can get an absolute sure thing every year you need one

The hope was that Nico would play this season, let Merk and Gmac work into the system. Then Brandon comes in and we have as deep a QB position over the next few years as needed to be successful. Then Nico crapped his and our bed. Moving along.... :)

Good chance we’d lose Merk or Mac by December if Nico had stayed imo. This possibly kicks that can down the road.

Other teams are throwing big numbers at Brandon on a regular basis. Will be interesting to see if UT can hold him til signing day and then keep him once he gets here.

Basilio mentioned this recently. Sounds like we’ll have to really work just to hold onto him until enrollment. Then it’ll be renegotiating each year if they don’t make some changes to college football.

If GMac ends up being the starter this fall and does well, I think we run a good chance of losing Brandon. I don't think Merk scares Brandon.

This is beginning to look a lot like a prostitution ring.

These kind of responses are the worst when responding to a message board post that's about opinions and discussion and obviously from fans, not experts. Duh
To be honest I give @Jackcrevol a hard time because it’s CONSTANT. So many people on here act like the coaches are clueless, have zero plan and are flying blind. They have a process in place. It’s just unnecessary to post the same opinion in every thread, multiple times a day, every day.

Thanks for the feedback though. It’s noted 😁
