It seems like On3 takes the most risk in evaluating recruits different than the other services. I wonder how On3s evaluations will compare to the other services once we see how these recruits do in college.

ESPNs rankings are also different a lot of times, but mostly out of ignorance and insane Bama bias.

Agreed. They have Ondre evans as the #1 kid in Tennessee. We’re not even interested in him.

I think if this young man was really the #82 player in the country - he wouldn’t be down to NC State.

Like you said - it’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out.

On3 rankings are real suspect. It comes off as them ranking guys drastically different to carve out a niche and attention in the recruiting service community.

Disagree. Why because he didn’t play enough as a true freshman?

When all of the recruiting websites say the kid is around the 100+ range then one website has the kid at 11, you tend to raise an eyebrow.

I mean if you’re the 11th best player in the country, most of the time you’re expected to start or make a decent impact.

Even the best 5 star players rarely make an impact their freshman year unless they’re on a team that has zero depth. I can’t remember many 5 star freshman that have wowed. Pearce was behind Byron Young, Roman Harrison and shared mop up duty with Josephs

So since you didn’t clarify

Here’s a list of 5 star freshmen that made a major impact
- Kevin Banks OT for Texas
- Walter Nolen DL Texas A&M
- Mykel Georgia DL played like 400 snaps
- Domani Jackson USC DB
- Cade Klubnik Clemson QB
- Harold Perkins LSU LB
- Shemar Stewart DL Texas A&M
- Evan Stewart Texas A&M WR
- Will Johnson DB Michigan

I can keep going. Also, before you say “well they didn’t have depth”

You can’t use that argument when I named all major D1 teams.

Sorry, no bueno.

(2) starts and one was a beating in the Orange Bowl.

He looked terrible.

Major Impact = Playing Time. He got a lot of playing time and will be the starter this year.

Feel free to look at the rest, but you probably ignored those because you felt cool naming the one person that didn’t fit YOUR description.

I feel cool all the time.

Didn't comment on the rest as I don't make the time to scout freshmen on other teams that aren't relevant in my busy world.

Carry on

Cade Klubnik mad an impact on a crap confrence and got absolutely shellacked against us. Walter Nolen made an impact wtf.... I never heard his name mentioned once on a broadcast. Admittedly I didnt watch much A&M. Texas was terrible. Michigan was one of the most talented teams in their conference. Heres the deal for me. When you say Impact im thinking Eric Berry impact. Playing some snaps on a loaded team does not scream impact

That’s fair. I just don’t think it’s fair to say or imply Pearce underwhelmed considering he was behind an NFL draft pick and another veteran
