Not to mention we went 0-29 behind the arc before hitting a couple in the last minutes. Otherwise, I think the tournament looks a little different than it turned out.
We might actually have a title to be taken away in the next year or so instead of an elite 8.
But, as we discussed during the tournament and going along with the Duke homer love in the bracket seeding, WVU and UK should have never been in the same bracket in the first place. The NCAA just had to have Huggins and Calipari in the same bracket so that both of their bastard children couldn't reach the final four.
hahah...bobby maze
how many kids does he have now?
Typical Tennessee comeback
i know all yall are gonna be pissed but i have to say it
butler would have beaten the hell out of Tenn
Duke had a really good team in 05' with all-americans JJ Redick and Sheldon Williams, with sean dockery, demarcus nelson, and lee melchioni
but damn tyrus thomas and glenn davis went to town on us in the elite 8
who does everyone think will win next year's NCAA tournament?
i got duke, no bias
WVU couldn't miss from 3. I would take UK in that matchup 95% of the time. But props to Duke, they got the job done when we didn't.
Looking ahead to Duke cost Kentucky.
Calipari suggested Kentucky lost to West Virginia in the Elite Eight last season in part because the Wildcats were looking ahead to Duke in the Final Four.
"Do you know how badly we wanted to play Duke?" Calipari said. "I think that's why we played so badly against West Virginia. We wanted Duke so badly we couldn't see straight."
Kentucky shot 4 of 32 on 3-pointers in the loss to West Virginia.
"I'll be honest," Calipari said. "I really felt we had the best team, not at the beginning (of last season), but at the end. The one thing we were fearful of is that we'd go on a shooting slump, which was the question about our team from Day 1. But we made shots, we willed shots in. And that game, we went 0 for 20 and I kept saying, 'We're going to be alright, and their eyes are like, no we're not.'"
Added Calipari: "How about that? Five first-round picks on one team, and that dummy couldn't win a national title."
John might want to take another look at his career record against Huggs. That indicates a little more than a slightly distracted team was the problem.Found this a moment ago reading a story about Cal speaking in Alabama today.
