The problem with that is that the teams that are capable of making the sweet sixteen aren't going to have a player on the court who is throwing the ball all over the place or who isn't tight with their ball handling when the game is on the line. I am assuming that is the reason she only got 2.7 minutes per game at South Carolina. The skill is there, but there is also a mental aspect that is lacking at times. Because as good as she has been in some games, we have also seen the other side and she did have some ugly passing today. Some place that trusts her in the game in the last few minutes of a sweet sixteen game, I imagine.
Great Attitude. Love your positive post. Always. In CHRIST AloneWas a very good game till the fourth quarter. Both teams played their hearts out. Texas couched said this his best team. I really enjoy the season. No need in calling out any players this game. Hopefully we will be a lot better next year. We have a lot to look forward to. As always go Lady Vol’s.
What was wrong with coop today big difference todayVic appreciates the Job Kim did this year. Because she took a roster that is not tailor made from 1-10 and made things happen. We are short some players and the future is Bright. Considering Cooper never mentally got in this game and Spencer misses 5 Ft's . Loved watching the effort of this team. In CHRIST Alone
She doesn’t need anything Sc has, if Rickea was on this team that’s all that would have been needed. We just didn’t have that 1 true go to player when it mattered most. For those who question system. Give Kim SC roster which is built to run and press run and press and she would win Natty. That is what Kim one day envisions Ten deep of players who can run and run and all out pressure your opponent to break. I'm one very excited of what we can become. It's all about players now go out get them Coaches. In CHRIST Alone
Yet the players we did have out there were turning the ball ovef too in the last few minutes. And for sure if she went to some other teams, they probably have better players that you can replace her with in crunch time or f she is doing bad. We don’t have the luxury of that this year which is why even at not her best, she should have been on the floor in the final minutes of a sweet sixteen. I trust her out there in the last few minutes than some of the ones we did have. The problem with that is that the teams that are capable of making the sweet sixteen aren't going to have a player on the court who is throwing the ball all over the place or who isn't tight with their ball handling when the game is on the line. They shot 26 3's, made 5. How many do you want them to shoot?Thing is, Texas didn't score THAT much. We could hav forced some 3s throughout this game with some of our quick-release sharpshooters and we could hav won. But we started to force offense into their fantastic interior defense and suddenly we started having possessions end in turnovers with 0 attempted shots. We were rebounding well, some of those hypothetical 3s would hav gone in, some of the misses would hav been rebounded by Spearman and Latham, and suddenly maybe we score 70 and win this grindfest instead of leaving with our second-lowest scoring night all season.
Cooper had 5 on her own and a couple in a row at a critical time in the game. The other guards had 1 and 2. Kanaiya had 1 and Sam and Ruby had two each for the game. Jewel and Tess didn't have any.Yet the players we did have out there were turning the ball ovef too in the last few minutes. Gotta have players who are mentally ready for these types of moments. They could not overcome the mistakes and the pressure was huge. It takes time to build. I wouldn't say this team had a real shot at a title, simply because the experience of being in those moments. Can it happen sure but we damn sure wouldn't be the favorite with a 1st year coach, multiple players who transferred in etc. Build on it and set the expectation. Kim will do that and I'm sure she will self reflect as well. Pat didn't build a dynasty in 1 year either. Pat lost these games at times also. She would be proud of Kim and this Lady Vol teamAll three of our NCAA tournament games we were clearly better than "8th in the SEC". If we got by this one, we had a real shot at a title with this team. It's perfectly cromulent to hav some frustration for how the 4th QTR was played offensively; the #1 scoring offense in the country puts up only 9 with the season on the line.

If you are shooting 19% from 3, and you commonly shoot a ton of 3s, you're not going to have a good game.
At that %, they can shoot another 10 3s and still only get 6 more points.
Have a lousy game from the 3pt line and FT line plus a bunch of turnovers and you're not going to end up with a good game.
Overall, a good season for the Ladys.
Well maybe she will work on her handles and passing in the off season, because any coach that is trying to win a game isn't going to put a player that has been loose with the ball the whole game in the final few minutes of a game. You don't have a chance of winning if you don't have the ball. And she still won us plenty of other games. She is one of the only players on our team that can create her own shot. I’d rather have her out there than when we need a bucket than someone who barely scores in non crunch time.
True but it was still the same result…a turnover. And I’m not really blaming Ruby or Sam for that. Coop has been in plenty of crunch time situations with them even with games with just as many turnovers. she should have been out there. I am not saying I think she’ll transfer but just like the guy from St. John’s, I could see how that might bother her.Cooper had 5 on her own and a couple in a row at a critical time in the game. Even with all that she should have been out there WITH Ruby and Sam.Well maybe she will work on her handles and passing in the off season, because any coach that is trying to win a game isn't going to put a player that has been loose with the ball the whole game in the final few minutes of a game. You can't win if you don't have the ball.
She brings way more positives to this season than negatives. She is our best overall player and it’s not rlly close. The problem with that is that the teams that are capable of making the sweet sixteen aren't going to have a player on the court who is throwing the ball all over the place or who isn't tight with their ball handling when the game is on the line. It should bother her and also be explained to her with the video of time of the game, what the score was and the importance of ball security at those moments. Ruby and Sams turnovers weren't loose turnovers, they were turnovers being aggressive to the basket trying to score the ball. Coop was just throwing the ball all over the place. Talaysia can be one of the best in the Country. Has all the physical attributes to be that. For her she is going to have to become educated (Basketball IQ) about when, where, and how to make the right plays when it matters. Tonight wasn't her night.True but it was still the same result…a turnover. And I’m not really blaming Ruby or Sam for that. Coop has been in plenty of crunch time situations with them even with games with just as many turnovers. she should have been out there.
