NCAA Ruling Impact on Recruiting

Tracy Rocker stayed for years under Pruitt.

I thought the rumor was that Rocker essentially refused to recruit and wouldn't travel much if any. Either way, Rocker's been all over the SEC and ended up getting fired or not renewed. It's not like he was getting his first shot at a big boy job at UT.
That was the rumor. Pruitt was only here for 3 seasons, and Rocker left(by choice) after season 2. I'm not saying Rocker was squeaky clean. I'm saying that he was an SEC veteran and saw the writing on the wall. Like you said, the not recruiting deal was a RUMOR. A rumor based on him wanting to watch his son in the college World Series. Rocker was getting more production than any other position coach Pruitt had. Hell, his replacement got fired halfway through his first season.

I think he was pushed out, but (shockers) Pruitt didn’t have a plan. He wanted a recruiter who could still teach/develop. Doesn’t appear he even vetted Brumbaugh and gave him little or no chance from the outset. When you don’t have a good product to sell, all sales are final before you go out of business.

Actually Heupel said we have now imposed 18, so we have 10 more for 5 seasons. GBO!
If Spyre does their job 10 scholly reductions over five years will mean almost nothing. I'm a little more concerned about the various reductions in visits and off campus recruiting.

I like the poison pill approach. Find a few guys. Offer them the equivalent in NIL as they would in scholarships for one year and clear it all up quickly. Maybe a bit more as an incentive.

There is a lot of small print I’m sure and Tennessee has some fantastic lawyers looking at everything. The recruiting restrictions will be the only thing that hurts us in the near future.

I didn’t say it wasn’t used, I am just saying we did pretty good while it was and that trying to use it against us anymore will not have the desired effect. I never said it wasn’t used against us I guarantee you it was. That doesn’t mean we didn’t navigate it well. And from this point on I don’t think trying to use that tactic against us will have the result they want. Hopefully now you understand my position a little better. GBO!
Yes. Apologies. Came off a little more salty than I intended. I think we’ve done a great job navigating this investigation from top to bottom. It still has been a thorn in our side.

The punishments on recruiting will be tough but I’m not sure any tougher than what we already imposed. I think most of us would agree the biggest impact is knowing there will not be a post season ban.

With that in mind, how long do you all think it will be before we see the impact in recruiting and we are able to land some of those prospects that went elsewhere because they were led to believe we would not be able to compete for championships because of an expected ruling. This class? Next class? I’m excited for that not to be a hurdle Heupel has to jump anymore.
They said on Sports Source that they lose so many scollys. But Tennessee has already did that and i believe they only had 10 more to serve. That's 2 per year.
