I don't listen to the Sports Animal much. They have lots of hours to fill, I don't set store by most of what they say.You must listen not to the Sports Animal, as various commentators on that said they wondered if it was just fatigue. I am surprised that your forgot that several posters here after our loss to Georgia posited that various people were unhappy here, that perhaps something that was going on, etc. My mentioning the SEC tourney was to just solidify the point that it was not dissension that led to our losses. I do agree that our inconsistencies in 3-point shooting and defense did interfere with our ability to win some of our games as well.
As I watched this game could see how their guards could not handle the press to the extent that they had a shooter handling that could make a basket. That has been the sum of it for all the teams of South Florida's ability. I agree we beat Vandy and Georgia without the press they both just got to many easy baskets because of it. Better reel it in a lot in the next game if we are expecting to win cause Ohio St knows the press inside out. They will use it against us tomorrow, but not all game. We should use it after made baskets sometime never on a missed shot. Going to be a different game and we can win if we understand they will break the press for easy baskets and that is what we have to avoid as much as possible. The press works against lower competition. Let’s see how it works tomorrow against a team who also press. Kim doesn’t need to press all game when your going against elite athletes.
Yesterday MamaDembele broke the press multiple times and was able sto get to the paint at ease. Tomorrow that will be Jaloni instead who will score easily.
The press gives opponents an easy 10-15 pts a game. That’s the real issue with her system.
If we don’t press Vandy or Georgia we win those games easily.
The team can play great half court defense or a half court trap. There still wasn’t any adjustments made yesterday with the system.
Dayum, Gunter! Get ‘em!![]()
Much long winded drivel. The LV Forum way.I am old, and weary of having to muddle through repetitive crap, especially real time in game threads, and especially early in game threads. Hoping having to see their loyalty rewarded post game IN THOSE THREADS will give them pause in the future. The more cringe worthy the better. That is MY agenda.
Better threads for agenda driven drivel.
Did what we were supposed to do in the end first quarter was ugly for us and thus the comment. They should never shoot 59 percent in any quarter seems everytime we play the opponent does their damage in the first quarter. South Florida was not good enough to maintain it and ended up shooting 39 percent. If we hold Ohio State to 39 percent we will win the game. If they shoot 59 percent in the first quarter that will not happen.
And she's a cutie too...Rewatching the game right now, and MAN those three first-half threes by Spearman were sweet. The sound they made going through the net was even great! And Talaysia Cooper was a beast. South Florida never had a chance last night.
And how about Avery Strickland showing her speed? I am SOOOO glad she came through big on defense like she did. A while back I remember being puzzled by a couple of comments here saying Avery was too slow. I thought, "REALLY? You really think Strickland is slow?!?!" I think Coach Jumper and I have always agreed that she's a way better player than most here believe her to be. Someone recently even said she doesn't belong in P4 conference-level basketball! That is just plain ridiculous. I'm thrilled she's a Lady Vol, and the great class coming in had better not sleep on Strickland, 'cause she's gonna work hard to steal some of their minutes!

Since you don't know the difference between a time reactive post and an end result let me explain. Time reactive is a post on the result that is going on in real time not the end result of a competition. If you don't like them why don't you just ignore. Poor starts have ended in bad results and this time reactive post was pointing out this was another poor start for the team. Most of our losses this season have resulted in poor first quarter play. The luck today was that we were playing South Florida a team we can overcome not LSU, Oklahoma, or SC that when you start bad your going to end bad.Well, of it about efficiency, how do you rate your early game accuracy? This system fits the squad she put together in her first year. It has proven to consistently lead to runs, both good and bad, so why introduce dissenting one liners before the body of work is in, especially when cumulative impact of pace and substitution patterns are so key to the final results.
Teams with extremely good handles getting it to strong posts at a high rate, especially in transition defeating our overplay will yield bad results if we don’t generate to’s, backcourts, in larger numbers. Just part of the deal.
I am optimistic that we can hang and win against Oh St. given early SEC play we competed again SC, TX and others. Fingers crossed they remember how to battle and come out on top!!Since you don't know the difference between a time reactive post and an end result let me explain. Pretty much always happens when any team loses two games in a row really badly. Watching that uga game the team did not look happy. Do think it was just a lot of fatigue but it definitely looked bad and caused some speculation. Truly one of the worst losses in program history. That UGA team was horrible. You must listen not to the Sports Animal, as various commentators on that said they wondered if it was just fatigue.
