NCAA Tourney Selection Show

UK could either beat UConn in a shootout a la Arkansas recipe, or lose by 25. Neither would be a surprise, and neither result can be predicted. They are one of the most hot and cold team out there right now.
They were hot early, but imo they’ve been trending downward. They’re a lot like us in that they are inconsistent. Rhyne can be great or she can be zoned out and look bored. It’s a toss up with whatcha get from them. I think they feed off her energy good or bad.

Their fans will abandon Nikki in a heartbeat. They were playing in an empty stadium until Vic started making some noise, and they will return to that now that Nikki has torpedoed the program. I don't see the fans coming back unless she turns them into a winning, nationally relevant program, and I don't see top recruits coming over unless they are a winning, nationally relevant program. So she's toast...especially once the transfers started getting announced.

I still find it amazing that she destroyed that program in like a month. This was a preseason top 10 team, and she sunk them almost instantaneously. That is an impressive display of coaching malpractice as I've ever seen.

Can take years to build and only a month to sink it. Really sad honestly.

Had to be against another of our transfers. They just couldn’t stand it.

Watched them play in the CUSA tournament. We should be able to shoot layups non-stop and defensively we just need to get back and stand up straight. They are small. We will crush them on the boards and Tamari will have 10 blocks.

The Hayes sisters are tough but they are selfish. They take so many shots hardly anyone else is involved in the offense. They might score 50 together, but the rest of the team will have 5.

Middle Tennessee State only played 6 players against Rice in the conference championship game. The only reserve was former top 10 player Boothe who started out at Texas.

Nikki and Holly are both coaches that are much better suited for assistant roles vs. HC roles.
It’s shocking to me how little success people who played and/or coached under Pat have had as head coaches. Just doesn’t make sense.

The Lady Vols are a 3 seed and their first round opponent is Middle Tennessee. This could be a tough game if the ladies are not ready. They need to push the metal to the peddle and not let up even if they get a big lead. Middle Tennessee will be gunning for an upset. We have to take them very serious.

As the other poster mentioned it is not 1995 anymore- the game has moved on and the players are different. Still there is another reason as well and probably even more relevant. Pats was a system coach and her style suited her forcefull personality. Her assistents lacked the personality that made Past system work. Holly especially. She was the antithisis of Pat. When she tried to be forcefull it came out as mean and snippy.

I disagree Nikki just happen to be at a university that the top players doesn’t seem to want to be. What she get out of what she has talent wise shows that she can coach. Had she been able to land the in state star Ursin it would’ve been a different past 4 years for her. She should’ve stayed at UCLA.

Stanford, UConn lead way in women's NCAA tournament 1-64 power rankings

here is ours
13. Tennessee Lady Vols

Best case: The Lady Vols relish the ability to play outside the SEC, where their opponents just aren't used to the kind of length Tennessee possesses. The shortest player in the regular rotation is Rae Burrell at 6-1. Defense and rebounding carry the Lady Vols through the first two rounds. Then in the regional semifinals, Rennia Davis and Burrell have one of those incredible dynamic duo kind of games. They are both unstoppable and combine for 50 points. They aren't quite as good in the regional final, but Davis finds a way late. Tennessee makes its return to the Final Four, the program's first since 2008.

Worst case: The turnover issues that have plagued the Lady Vols for the past few seasons show up again at the wrong moment. They were 13th in the SEC in turnover margin this year but were able to overcome it in most games. Not this time in Round 2, and Tennessee gets bounced.

I agree, which is why I also felt she should be trying to get out of there. There are some jobs opening that will be better suited for what she can do as a coach, only thing is she wont get paid at those universities what she is making at LSU. I think had she stayed at UCLA she wouldn't be put in the category of the other two.

Over years and years of hearing whispers about coaches cheating to get recruits to play for them and/or bending the NCAA rules on practice time, etc., to their advantage, one thing that stands out in my mind is that I have NEVER heard whispers about any of “Pat’s girls” cheating. The learned a lot from her, including trying their best to do things the right way — without cheating — and that places the bar quite a bit higher for them.

There are painfully few “successful” coaches who I have never heard cheating rumors about. I’ll mention Tara VanDerveer because it has always amazed me that she could have been as successful as she has been without any cheating and with the admissions standards she has to recruit within.

I’m not going to get into naming successful coaches who are either flat-out known, or at least regularly whispered to be, highly successful cheaters. And it most certainly DOES make a difference who cheats and who doesn’t.

I truly believe that at least a contributing factor to why none of Pats’s former players-turned-coaches have reached a Final Four is that they aren’t willing to cheat to get there.

Another factor is that coaching is HARD! o_O
