NCAA tourney vs. SEC tourney

This isn't my fight, but since you're talking down to another poster for not 'coming with correct facts', I have to point out that you should read a little more closely before becoming a smart alec. He didn't say Tubby was coaching KY in '96-'97. He said Pitino took 'em in '96.

...he took them there in '97 and '98 winning the title in '98, Pitino took them there in '96 and '93, winning the title in '96.
Alright, carry on......

See, I think that the reason Knight was so popular was that his team was an ever-present NCAA team. Now, it may be true that the Indiana faithful loved him because he ran the Big Ten, but nationwide his popularity was based on NCAA performance.

One other point, and it has probably already been made, I feel certain that recruits dreaming of NBA careers are much more interested in what you do in the NCAA's than conference tournaments. Success breeds success. If you are fixture in the big dance, then you get that much more attention. I think Florida is a prime example of that. And I think Tennessee could be.
Totally Agree I mean you can't get better pub!!!

So, giving the post we are debating the technical reading you are, '96 and '93 are the same season. He said Tubby took them in '97 and '98. Before you call me out, at least do the necessary background. If accuracy isn't important, we should all just create our own facts to support our positions. The '96-'97 reference I made, to anyone paying attention, referenced a season which Rick Pitino coached. Pitino's championship was in the '95-96 season.

Nothing in your above post rebuts what I said originally. Accuracy is very important, which is why I felt the need to point out your inaccuracy. Below is your response accusing the other poster of thinking Tubby was the coach in '96 when he said nothing of the sorts. He, in fact, stated that Pitino coached in and won the title in '96, as you can see below your sarcastic post.

Also, Tubby wasn't even the Coach at Kentucky in '96-'97. Are you just guessing what the facts are?
Last, I don't think UK fans are all over Tubby for not making the Final Four since 1998...he took them there in '97 and '98 winning the title in '98, Pitino took them there in '96 and '93, winning the title in '96.
If we are on totally different pages, then I'm sorry. But the way your discussion reads, you misaccused him in a belittling tone.

Again, he states that Tubby took Kentucky to the Final Four in '97 and '98. He was not the coach in the '96-'97 season. Tubby's first year was '97-'98. It is readily apparent that the poster, who attempted to shortchange Bob Knight out of no less than 3 Final Four appearances, was crediting Tubby Smith with an appearance actually due Rick Pitino. I'm not sure where the disconnect here is.

It is obvious the poster is talking about two seasons, which he labels "'97 and '98." For those to be two seasons, they rationally have to be '96-'97 and '97-'98. If I unfairly maligned the guy, why hasn't he attempted to set me straight? Because he knows I'm right on the facts.

Good to see you back. Sorry if I was a little harsh. I'm a huge Bob Knight fan. I thought you were shortchanging him.

I love Bobby Knight...which is why I hate IU now. I was just going by memory, it was more than a little faulty that night.

Actually, Coach Knight would be on your side in this debate. He has always placed consistent success inside one's conference at the top of his priority list.
