NCAA Women’s Tournament Thread

Wow a team that runs offense and sets screens(dig at Tennessee). Both teams are not shooting the ball well.

One of the announcers had a list of coaches for Tennessee and pass on Brenda Freise and Gail G.
Yes I saw that. I really don't Nicki is near the top either. I am going with Walz until he says no then Moore and finally Kellie.

Announcers seem to think this pace is favorable to MO State, but I disagree. Stanford is forcing them to play in the half court and they’re struggling to score. Almost all of their buckets have come early in the shot clock. The first two games of the tournament they were able to score in bunches in transition. Not getting that tonight. If Stanford’s shots were going down it wouldn’t even be this close, they’re getting the looks the want but they can’t sink one to save their life.

Sadly MO State looks a lot like UT when forced to play in the halfcourt. They do run better offense, but they aren’t able to score out of it.

only 9 points down at halftime. Mo State is definitely in this game. a huge upset could be brewing.

Nah don’t think so, Stanford is doing exactly what they need to defensively. Their shots just aren’t going down. Percentage usually don’t lie. My guess is their shots start falling in the second half and they open it up quickly in the third quarter.

Well when it get down to the nut cutting I think Baylor is the best team in WBB. If they don't win it will be because of a off night. Don't like Kim but it is what it is and like her more that GA!!

I love Kim lol. I know she’s definitely one of those people where you love her or hate her, but I think she’s one of the best personalities in women’s basketball over the last 15 years. She’s so animated on the sideline. I agree that it’s Baylor’s to lose this year. They squashed SC today, but they had their number earlier this season as well and SC started the game playing scared and let it get out of hand in just a few minutes. Baylor has had some close games this season. And let’s not forget, the only team to beat them is Stanford.

You can say Baylor just played bad in that game, but teams have a tendency to have their worst game of the season against Tara Vandeveer. I think she and Gary Blair are the two best “schemers” in women’s college basketball.

As for Geno, I don’t think anyone likes him unless you’re a UCONN fan. I don’t find him funny or inspirational in the least.

Every team, even yes Tennessee will test the limits with the refs to get a feel for how the refs call, and then adjust accordingly. However most don't undercut players or shove elbows in the back of players the way ASU does. They we're straight up playing thug ball, and then that ugly horse faced blonde says, 'Good job, Shaq' to McCowan after ASU got their a$$es kicked during the post game handshake. Keepinh it classy...about as classy as their hooker coach.
Do you call male coaches “pimps?”

MoSt had it down to 3 with a chance to tie a couple of times in 3rd quarter. Still in good shape only down by 8 to begin 4th.

MoState is doing what they have to do to keep it close. They're a scrappy, competetive bunch.

Willard is normally an excellent 3-point shooter. If she warms up, it could get tight.

Off topic but the sideline reporter who just interviewed Tara, Courtney Lyle, is a 2012 Tennessee graduate who worked for a while at WBIR (the NBC affiliate in Knoxville).

If she stays, that will make SC just that much stronger without as much pressure on her as this year with the talented incoming freshman.
Does Cooper stay to play next year or go? I know she’s engaged to Dwight Howard and should be graduating this year...will be curious to see what decision she makes.

Just my opinion but it’s less about what MO State has done and more about what Stanford has not done. They’re getting open looks they are just ice cold. They have gotten tons of open looks in the paint and from 3, just a lid on the rim.

This is their poorest shooting game of the entire season but they are still up 11 thanks to their defense. MO State would have preferred an up and down high scoring contest. This is it for Cinderella.

Looks like Stanford will hang on for the win. They need to burn the tape of this one. Ugliest shooting I’ve seen from them in years.

Congratulations to MO State on their tournament run. Always great to see kids having fun and getting to experience the tournament like that.

I have never seen a team shoot any worse than this and still win a basketball game. Stanford is 17-68 from the field (25%) and just 3-29 (10.3%) from 3 point range.... and are up 8 points. Unreal.

One disturbing thing I see about Kelli Ending the game with just using a TO at the 27 second mark is a lot like our former coach did about every game. I know Stanford went on a run or two that a TO may have been needed. JMHO as always and I love what she has done at Mo State with no stars or low star players!
