NCAA Women's Tournament Selection Show Thread - Tennessee Lady Volunteers, No. 5 seed in Birmingham Region 3

Not that it’s an excuse .. but UT is entering spring break this week. So maybe some players/coaches are already off campus for trips planned? I’m sure campus is dead in general.

Looked like only a few came and no excitement. Kind of embarrassing. If they play with that way USF will beat them. Was Coach Caldwell be there?
Kim was there, yes. Coop went live when the bracket was announced and the staff was present.

This is different than what we’re used to, but it doesn’t have to be a big deal.

like us they don’t have a good solidified post. they switch a couple players in the 4/5 spot. they have good guards.
Yeah, I think their guards are a tough matchup for Tess, Jewel and Ace. Their guards are athletic and will make it difficult for them to get a shot off.

But on the flip side, we have a slight advantage in the post.

Zee, Ruby, Coop, Sam and Jill will have play extremely well for us to beat OS.

Wasn’t a good look on National TV. There needs to be an air of excitement at all times around this program as we’ve transitioned into new waters. We should have one of the grandest watch parties of any school honestly!

And I know y’all like to get on here and condescend, but I’m letting yall know now, no matter how deep you don’t think it is or in case anyone wants to write an essay…..it won’t change the fact that recruits are watching and our watch party looked boring/dull as hell on National TV!

Kim’s first watch party? Where was everybody?!
This is concerning because something happened to this team the last two weeks of the season.....do not know what it was or is . If this team were playing like it did a month ago ,they should at least go to Sweet 16 but playing lethargically in last two weeks and showing up with no emotion tonite is concerning.....a quick exit could definitely be in the cards.

Really? All that for 5 seconds of airtime. You need to re-think that one.

OSU looks beatable. They thrive of steals and turnovers but do quite poorly on both offensive and defensive rebounding. They were 3rd in the Big 10 but won several of the games by close margins once they were in conference. If wasn't for our late season swoon but still had the same results sprinkled throughout the year, I prefer our resume. If somehow we get to the Sweet 16, I definitely prefer Texas to the other #1 seeds. We would likely have a home court advantage in Birmingham the way our fans travel. Our chances in any of these games rest on getting back to the groove we were in before the 3 losses at the end of the season.

I hear everyone's concerns about Tennessee's reaction not being amazing or anything, but Caldwell strikes me as exactly the kind of coach who doesn't give a damn about cheering for ESPN's marketing on a TV broadcast.

Again, not saying if it's good or bad. Just. She's to the point on the microphone, and doesn't seem to be taken much by PR. So. Eh.

And, I may be wrong, but I feel like we got our fair share of muted Tennessee reactions in the past. Even with Pat in the room. They were all business.
