NCAAT Game Thread: Lady Vols vs Buffalo/Belmont

I have avoided reading the Kelly vs Kara thread, but does Kara get in the face of ineptness or not listening?

We started well and ended well but the middle was murky. We need to find a way to play intense basketball for 40 minutes. Maybe that’s asking for a lot in November but it should be the standard in March.

Well at this point, there’s no excuse this point in the year. I don’t care who isn’t playing, effort is not an excuse.

80 points looked good. The reason it was closer far to long was 1. 10 points on 5 easy layups off Tn bad turnovers 2. We didn't block out on 2 separate Ft's in which they scored 5 points. Can't do that Monday night. Rae and Key definitely much better 2nd half but need both halfs Monday. In CHRIST Alone

No, no no I screamed and then exhaled and said good shot. There was 8:33 to go in the fourth quarter and Tennessee held a precarious five point lead. The shot by Burrell had a high arch. It went so high the camera lost it. When the ball descended it touched nothing but net. So my game ball goes to Burrell for the game winning shot (in my opinion). That shot gave Tennesse an eight point lead and a gut punch for Buffalo.

Great win LVs. I saw exactly what I needed for Tennessee to make a run at the Nat’l Title. Strong guard play by J.Walker on both ends going head to head with the 4th leading scorer in the country! Key played better in the 2nd half. Aggressive and physical play from Alexus Dye… and pure shooting from Rae Burrell. Burrell is not fully back to form but she’s good enough now and getting better. Watch out! 19 pts today.
Lastly, the freshmen did a good job. Puckett is the X-Factor.
The deciding factor which rarely worked in Tennessee favor all year today was free throw shooting. The free throw shooting was above average despite a few bad misses.
Tennessee has a great chance to advance no matter who wins in the Oregon vs Belmont game.

Quick take...

Heck of a second-half by Key... unstoppable.
Puckett had a low-key very good game. She should have gotten more of Darby's minutes.
Speaking of Darby, worst game of the year for her. But we've seen her play better and we need her to.
Burrell was solid but loose with the ball.
Dye was very good all-around... maybe our first-round MVP.

I was very impressed with Fair and Wooley. Buffalo will return all but one of their players that played over 7 minutes in this game. I'll be interested to see how they do next year if they can keep everyone they have returning. I know I would personally portal out of Buffalo in a split second.
