ND will join them full time in football once their NBC contract is up.
What I was thinking because by then they won't get a contract like that again. It's a gamble for the ACC IMO. I'd still see ND working the back channels to try and keep their gravy train rolling.
ACC lays down $50 mil exit fee also. That should just about put an end to the discussion in Austin about poaching other conferences with any legit athletic contenders.
Unbelievable. I really cannot understand why the ACC agreed to this. That bowl slot Notre Dame will be eating?
Yeah, they can be picked over any ACC team as long as they are within one game of that team. They're reaping the benefits of an ACC member without the risk.
Good on you, ACC, for willingly being leeched.
Everybody understands why ND wouldn't join the ACC (or any other conference for that matter), the real head-scratcher is why the ACC is seemingly just giving up a bowl bid and TV revenue at least 2-3 times a year (read: millions of dollars a year) for seemingly nothing in return. Why would ND fully join the ACC with football? They have access to the BCS, a safety net of bowls, conference cash, and NBC. They can still visit out west and with either USC or Stanford and then schedule who they want for the other 6 games. What is the reason to make them go fully into the ACC given what they already have?
