We are always continuously working to make this forum the best it can be, but it seems that I have kind of hit a block of sorts, more of an idea block to be honest. So, what I am asking of my fellow VN faithful is to come up with as many ideas as you can. All that we have done and are doing is great, but we can always be better. What say you VN Recruiting Junkies?? BTW, I am going to ask Sab if he will make a VN Recruiting Junkie sig for those that would like one. :hi:

Here's the sig I asked Sab to whip up. Pretty awesome I must say.

I would like it if you could illegally download all the videos Rivals has for our recruits and post them here.

I have a couple ideas. Read a book, go out, and don't let recruiting get your heart rate up.

lol kpt. This was brought up GQ a few days ago... Maybe a like a recruiting "hot board" similar Auburn has (linked below). I'd be up for helping you with that and i'm sure Sab would be too.

The hot board is pretty awesome. I'd like to see Hubbs do it, but I think he said no dice on it. I'd be up for helping on it too.

I was really just joking. If I was desperate to see those videos I'm pretty sure it can be done by manipulating your browser's cookies.

You know I do not post in recruiting a whole lot but everyone does a great job at keeping the info flowing in here, good job to all!

something I'd really like to see, especially for the recruiting forum, is basically a news only thread. it's locked so the news or whatever doesn't get buried by pages and pages of nonsense; only accessible by the recruiting guys.

I check in a lot from my mobile, and its painful to try to read through pages upon pages of no news at all to try to find some info (especially since I check in a lot while driving...lol)

But I think it would be great, a sticky at the top of the recruiting forum (locked of course); that gives you commits as they happen, even new info on top prospects maybe, I don't know...

Check out the prospect wire in the Master list thread.

How about allowing people to subscribe / follow a limited number of players on the new recruiting wire, say no more than 3-5. The user could then be prompted whenever a new article is linked on the recruiting news feed for any of those particular players (i.e. notify them when visiting the site, e-mail with a link, etc.).

Have a "rolling" recruiting prediction thread whereby only those pre-identified recruiting gurus could post their respective predictions as to whether or not each offered player actually signs with Tennessee, and identify the school they believe would be chose, instead. For example, Rex may say that he thinks we have a 75% chance of signing Scroggins, while Sabo says only 50%, so on an so forth. Perhaps they could even list short reasons for changing a certain prediction (i.e. "Just verbally committed to "X", so he dropped from 25% to 1%, etc.). Each recruiting guru could update it as they believed warranted by current news / events / inside information. This would open up several possibilities:

  • Users could monitor - in near real time - the current predictions for any player, at any time, by each of the notable recruiting gurus, or collectively (average predictive value for all gurus, etc.) as well.
  • The list could be sorted to see the historical movement of those players climbing higher or lower as the gurus adjust their initial predictions. Who seems more / less likely to sign today, than a month ago, etc. ? Even better, how much more / less likely is it? Imagine seeing such a thing for Bryce Brown, if only from a week before NSD to the day he signed?
  • Have a separate category where general users could also (collectively) vote as to their predictive value, and which could then be compared to those of the resident gurus.
  • Allow users to see those trends and correlations that are difficult, if not impossible, to track now. For example, how much does the official visit actually affect the predictive values, by actual quanitifiable means? When someone asks, "How'd such-and-such enjoy his visit?" you can not only say how much / little he did, but to what degree he did so.
  • Of course, it would enable a comparitive analysis of each of the gurus, and their predictions - not only on a given player or specific class, but historically (as the functionality was perpetuated in subsequent years) as well. Who was the first to "call" a certain player, who caught up later after others had done so, etc. etc. etc.
  • I'll stop beating the horse here, but the possibilities would be endless - however, I have no idea what such would take to design / build / maintain, but it could just as easily be endless as well.
There's my suggestions, for what it's worth.
