Need some help from Vol Nation

If you want decent seats better go to Stub Hub or wait to buy off the street b4 game. If this is a once in a lifetime experience, best seats are Stub Hub. UTAD keeps best seats for season ticket packages. Parking passes are hard to come by and would be expensive. I, too am a Calhouns fan, close to stadium - good food - great views. That said, walking the Strip b4 game is a lot of fun. Reminds me of my school days gone by.

Ha I'm from South Jersey, and we are nothing like those D-bag New Yorkers ( no offense to the good people of New York). It's country and cornfields where I'm from. It's the people from North Jersey that give us a bad name. You have no idea how bad the people in south Jersey wish that show never happened.

Oh, and Ole College Inn will be reopened by then as well, original menu or so they say.

Is OCI moving back into the old place?

Our group loves going to Market Square... the time depends on Kick-off.

We stay at Sheraton 4 Points (Peyton's Place) so we can walk to Market Square and the Stadium...we don't drive on Game Day for at least 2 reasons.

Try Littons it is a great place or Ye Olde Steak House steak is great but little pricey.

Agree. 2 best restaurants in K-town. Litton's desserts are beyond compare. Next tier - Chesapeakes, Calhouns & for college memories Sam/Andy's..Never could afford Ye Olde when I was in school but love it now.Prepare to drop close to a bill for every 2 folks there.:hi:

I have a friend from Jersey and like you she hates that show and wishes it never happened.

That is my understanding...I believe The Sunspot and OCI will be under the same roof at the original OCI/Tap Room locale, could be wrong, but I think that is what I read a week or so ago...ah, found the story...

Thank you for the advice. I do want to go to a SEC East game against one of the rivals. You never know how the season is going to go so if I wait around till Vandy then we might be going to a uninteresting game. I have heard Calhouns is a good spot to eat, from looking around on these boards and when I used to go to the GoVolsxtra site, it's been mentioned a lot. I haven't talked to my family yet so maybe they would want to see a certain game. I kind of wanted to surprise them tho.

I forgot to mention The Oliver Hotel, located right in the heart of Market Square. Great Place, not a lot of rooms so book soon.

You can also park at Ruth's Chris for $25 and get a $20 voucher. Little further walk than Calhoun's but something to consider.

The Hotel part isn't really that big of a concern of mine, I just want to get the tickets and parking right. That's the main thing I don't want to screw up, if we can't get a hotel in Knoxville then that is ok because I have family that we could stay with in the Dandridge/ Newport area. I don't really drink so I could always be a sober driver if my family wants to have some drinks. I don't know exactly how far of a drive it is, was thinking 2 or 3 hours. Thank you all for your help and I will be taking it all into consideration.

There is a good thread for visitors. I've tried to find it, but struck out too many times. I'm sure someone here can find it better than me. Sorry.

Fly from Philly, im form Jersey and go to school here and there is 1 direct flight a day usually at 3:25 im pretty sure from Philly to Knoxville. Very easy flight, campus is 15 mins from Airport. As for seating, ive only really sat in the student section and right next to it, but i have never had a bad seat in Neyland personally, so i think you should be fine on that. Food, id say Guss Good Times Deli on the corner of Cumberland and melrose, Wing Zone on the strip if you are looking for wings. Calhoun's on the river is a great place to eat too, but very busy on game weekends.

1) I would check out Calhouns on game day, or perhaps Ruth Chris. Ruth Chris is high dollar.
2) I would try to go to Hampton Inn and Suites downtown. It's on Cumberland Ave. and about a 5-10 minute walk to the stadium. Cumberland is also known as "the strip" which is the heart of campus and has various bars and resteraunts.

3) I'm not sure how serious you are about golf. The two best courses that are somewhat close to campus (30 or so minutes) are River Islands and Eagles landing. I think they changed the name of Eagles Landing, but you can still google that and get a hit. Bent Creek is also a great great course but it's about an hour and a half from knoxville in the mountains between Gatlinburg and Cosby. My favorite course is Greysburg Hills in Chuckie Tn which is actually closer to the tri-cities, about 2 hours from Knoxville. That might require getting a room up there for one night. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm crazy like that...my trips are very much planned around my golf, so I understand something like that might be a bit extreme for you. You can also drive an hour west of K-Town to Crossville which is absolutely loaded with courses and resorts. Tennessee IMO is VASTLY under rated in the golf department. Hope you and your family have a great safe trip. Keep reppin' that orange in Jersey!

If your looking to get tickets early, I'd go Georgia. Later on, SC tickets will be cheaper if your willing to hold out. I would suggest somewhere lower deck, between the 20's for vision problems. Book your hotel by Memorial Day. For dining, Calhoun's tends to get alot of talk. For bars, I still prefer Cool Beans.

Ok bear with me here and Mods feel free to move this from the Football forum if you'd like.

I am planning a trip to Knoxville this year for my first Tennessee football game along with my father, grandfather, and my two Uncles. I know it's early but I want to start planning because time flys and it will be here before you know it.

We will all be coming from South Jersey and to be honest this may be the 1st and last time we can all go together as 3 generations of Vols fans. My pop isn't getting any younger and My father is a Diabetic, and one of my Uncles has a rare eye disease that has left him blind in one eye and soon to be completely blind, so you never know what life has in store for them or any of us.

So my question to you all is really just asking for your advice. Like A good section to sit at so my uncle won't have a lot of trouble seeing the field, good places to eat, or maybe even play golf. Anything that is a must see while were down there? Just any advice that would make this a great trip for all of us. We have all been to East TN many times but never to Knoxville to watch a game so any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.

Jersey ... are you serious about your request and are you still looking for help? I'm sending off an email to my UT contacts with your request to see if I can get someone to contact you directly. You may need to ask Freak to help facilitate email address exchanges between us ... I don't post much and don't know how all that works.)

I'll check back in later tonight.
