who has been to some? which are the best? are any of them worth ten bucks?

i usually go to one every year.

when i was ten, they had one in nashville called the haunted woods (not the same one they have now, it was actually in the woods) and it was the best. now they are all in the middle of town.

so what is the verdict?

CC Ive been to Andrew Jackson's home the Hermitage and the tour guides there say that things go on there that imply its haunted. Might look into that...

My parents married in '59 and set up housekeeping in a house in Cherry Creek area in White county. I believe the house is torn down now but mom told me some stories about what happened to them there. A woman who lived there prior to them was killed on the 2nd floor balcony by lightning, mom swore she haunted the place. PM me if you would like to hear the specific stories she told me that happened.

The Haunted Woods in Nashville isn't there anymore. Or atleast the one where you actually walked through the woods and through that school bus with Freddy Krueger on it. We went to the "Haunted Woods" last year, and it wasn't the same. It was basically a pitch black maze and wasn't nearly as large. Their might be one still at the old Prison near the Airport and Harding Road.

the original haunted woods was off the hook. the freddy bus was the best. i really miss that thing.

it was like 100 acres of real woods back in a field.

oh well everything is in the city now. bs

I was born and grew up in Nashville. We used to go to the Haunted Woods every Halloween. You always had to stand in line for awhile to get in, it was so crowded all the time. They must have kept it open real late on the weekend because I remember being there at 2 in the morning one time. They have another one near my parents' house in Franklin. I'll have to call them and ask them exactly where it is and I'll let you know.

google haunted houses, and then to Hauntfinder (I think). from there, check out the info for Death Row-The haunted Prison.

Nashville PD does it, and it's run at the old TN Center for the Criminally Insane. they filmed part of the Green Mile at this place. it creeps you out to just walk up to the outside of it. EXCELLENT Hounted House, if kind of long. you definitely get your money's worth.

try that, and then try to hit SlaughterHouse downtown. Both Really well done, and both (I think, this was a few years ago) 10-20 bucks a head.

Good LORD, I MISS living in Tennessee!!!! out here on the East Coast they really don't even understand the concept of a proper Halloween Season.

EDIT: Charly, I didn't realize you were in Sparta--you should try the new Place they're running in Gainesboro--I think it's called House of Pain Haunted house. I've heard it's much better than it gets credit for.

Crieve Hall is a very nice area. My aunt lives there and has a beautiful house.

They need to either tear Overton down and build a new one or update it. It looks awful.

When I was in high school, Overton always played the Father Ryan football games at Vanderbilt stadium. This was before Father Ryan had their new school.

Since you went to Father Ryan, did you also go to St. Edwards? I went there for a few years during elementary school.

I totaled my car on a sharp curve right beside Overton. People that found me laying in their yard the next morning took me to the hospital.

I went to the "Old" Father Ryan. Last class to graduate. (1991) We played our home games on Dudley Field at Vanderbilt. Pretty cool to play their, but the artificial turf burns didn't feel good. You didn't even know you were burned up until you hit the showers and felt the sting. But I miss those days, for sure.

No, I didn't go to St. Edwards. I went to Head and Bellevue Middle.

I graduated from Overton in 1990, so we were probably both at the same games. :biggrin2:

I'm sure you've seen that tunnel under the railroad tracks that everyone spray paints. We used to go there after the games and paint the whole outside of it. That was back when Overton had a pretty decent football team and we had something to brag about. LOL

Derrick Bottoms.....I have known him since he played little league football (Flatrock Vols) and I was a cheerleader for them back in the late 70's, early 80's. Talk about a small world.

I played for the UNA Bears during that same time.

H-O-T-T-O-G-O the UNA Bears are Hot to go, say whoop!!, Hot to go!!

That's what are cheerleaders used to say

Funny stuff, huh?

Remember the Woodbine Broncos, Bellevue Steelers, Donelson Warriors, Smyrna, Mt. Juliet Bears, Madison Little Rams, Inglewood and Gramar?

Oh yeah!! The Phil King League.

I remember Matthew Tullis played for Flatrock, too. And a kid named Tiger.

UNA looked like the Gators, didn't they?

I can't believe that you remember Tiger!!! I remember when he started at the pee wee level and throughout the years, worked his way up to AAA and varsity. His sister cheered with me.

Which team was it that looked like Bama?

Matthew Tullis sounds familiar, I can't place him though.

I will have to get out my old Flatrock Vols programs and see who else played for them.

I remember the Stewart brothers, Ronnie and Mike. Bobby Dunn, Kevin Herndon, David Gibbs, and Robbie Hampton. I know that there are a lot more. I ended up going to high school with most of them.
