Need to focus on LB & CB in portal going forward

We have done great in portal on offensive side of ball. From this point forward we need to concentrate all efforts on LB and DB. Really only weakness we have going into 2023. Everyone wants to be a part of Heupel’s offense but some hesitance to jump on a defense that plays 40 minutes a game.

That would make sense, Cowboy. They'll get sorted out in spring and the ones that prefer to play elsewhere rather than be buried in the depth chart here will head for exits. It's a good thing for everyone.....we'll find out who really wants to be here.

Banks is the only one we lost. Beasley was starting for most of the season and he hasn’t left

We will lose a few more to the portal ourselves. If I had to make an educated guess, we may lose 2 on the DL, 2 DBs and maybe 1 on OL. If we gain anyone in portal:
QB - only if we lose Jackson after the spring (and I hope we don’t), although I get nervous with 3 scholarship quarterbacks.
RB - potentially one in spring depending on how surgeries and recovery goes with Small and Wright. If successful we won’t add anyone.
WR - I think we are done unless the WR from California is legitimately interested. If he is, you make room.
TE - we definitely need to add another one in the group.
OL - think we are done.
DL - only if we can find a starting weak side edge pass rusher. Otherwise we are done.
LB - I think we are done simply because of how pleased they are with the current/incoming freshman. Pili will start.
DB - we have a lot of bodies, but they were forced to play out of ideal position simply because we are so weak at CB. One CB is a must, 2 would be great.

they have not seen anyone that they have cared to pursue thus far. Maybe as more hit portal in the spring but right now, nothing excites them

Why would we add another TE?
