Are both garlands on scholarship?

yes.. from Kwauze's UT bio

Fourth-year Vol linebacker who also plays an important role on special teams coverage … Switched from defensive back to linebacker during the 2020 season ... Teammates with brother, Kurott, who is a defensive lineman … Played in 18 career games and has three seasons of eligibility remaining ... Earned a scholarship following the 2020 season after beginning his career as a walk-on.

Everyone wants to be a part of Heupel’s offense but some hesitance to jump on a defense that plays 40 minutes a game.
They landed a stud DT today, signed the #3 DL in the country, stole a LB that was a Bama lock right before signing day, signed the best edge rusher in Missouri and Tennessee, and took a 4 star corner out of LSU’s backyard.

These damn hot takes make me wanna slam my head into a wall. Holy ****.

Sure but those can be one year scholarships is my understanding.

Because we only hav

Because we only have 3 scholarship TEs on the roster, which includes Warren returning.

Warren
Castles
Browder
Davis

as well as a Top TE commit for 2024 class. Additionally we only used two the entire 2022 Season. No way we need 5 TEs

We have done great in portal on offensive side of ball. From this point forward we need to concentrate all efforts on LB and DB. Really only weakness we have going into 2023. Everyone wants to be a part of Heupel’s offense but some hesitance to jump on a defense that plays 40 minutes a game.
I don't claim to know what they've focused on.

However, their pattern seems to be that they don't just take a player because they "need" one at a position. They seem to be doggedly determined to only bring in the right guys... and otherwise they make do with what they have. Seems like a long term vs short term approach.

I think the plan is to just score 50 points and hold everyone else to 49

I believe we already have 5-6 CBs in this class. I’ll certainly take more, as we need to completely rebuild our secondary from the ground up, as I see it.

I agree that we need to upgrade these positions and the portal can help us get better... but I have a hard time thinking the caliber of player we need to beat Georgia is going to be found in the portal.

There just aren't many guys like Kelee Ringo, Will Anderson Jr, Cam Smith, etc available in the portal each year. We've got to sign elite athletes and develop them to get over the hump, IMO.
