If Maymon is healthy all season, we make it this year. Add him and Hubbs next year, yup.

I really hope so. I really like CCM. But, I am also a little jaded. For the last several seasons, be it football or basketball, we as Vols fans have heard next season will be our year.

I don't know how MTSU made it. They have losses to vandy and Florida. Two teams that Tennessee beat. Zero quality wins. Zero top 100 wins.

I like Cuonzo.....even better than Pearl. and I like Pearl so that's saying something. But yeah, he has to get in next year.

Seriously how could you like Pearl and like Cuonzo more? I mean take away the barbeque crap and who do you want coaching? Pearl came in and took a dead program "at the time", and made it one of the hottest in the country. I will never forget what he did.

But they have a RPI of 29 and beat Ole Miss. TN lost to Ole Miss twice. And btw, they beat Vandy.

Maybe, Maymon is a good player at 6'6"' but, Wes Unsel He's not. We should have went this year. We can't wait till we have ten losses before we discover we really have a pretty good team.

You joking bro?

Because Cuonzo seems like a better human being. That's why I like him more. I don't like his style of basketball more. And I don't like the losing more. But as a person...and character does matter to some on Volnation...I like Cuonzo better.

Not saying I don't like Pearl. He made a mistake, but if Cuonzo can't hack it, I still like Pearl and would love to see him back over somebody else. Plus I think Bruce really loved Tennessee.

And that is how I like both, but like Cuonzo better.

Wonder if the coach and players feel like they could go back to Friday and play with more enthusiam and intensity.
Sometimes you only have 1 chance left. At least leave it all on the floor. Can't believe we have fans that think we did.

When your coach tells you that you have done enough to make the tourny the kids have a tendency to believe them.

CBS just had selection committee president, or whatever his title is, and he said that Tennessee's inability to win on the road, being swept by Ol Miss and not beating powerful teams was why they were left out.

Now, which of the last 4 in had a better resume than UT? That's what confuses me.

Selection committee hates Tennessee.

Had our chance and blew it.
Have to start way better next season.
And have to win road games.

It's all about winning. After the bama loss I tried to tell people that the numbers were insufficient and I stated after the georgia loss that if we win four it's etched in stone. It is what it is.

I understand why we did not get in. I don't understand how MTSU, LaSalle, St. Mary's, etc. get in when they play crappy schedules with next to no wins against top 50 teams. They used the MTSU won better on the road as their reasoning. Yes - against crappy teams. Big deal. So Ole Miss and Oregon are worse seeds than a play-in game of MTSU/St. Mary's at an 11 seed? Hilarious! They are worse seeds than a 10 seed like Cincinnati or 9 seed for bubble team like Nova? Ridiculous.

The SEC and PAC 12 are the ones that are losing out. Until they honestly look at the actual results of the games when it comes to the mid-majors in the tournament it is not going to matter. Where are you Slive when it comes to basketball?

Worst seeding of some really bad seeding I have seen in many years. It will never change until the process of selecting is changed. Until then we are far better off scheduling easier non-conference games and racking up more wins on the road against bad teams.

Our record the last two seasons are 19-15(SEC 10-6) in 2011; 20-12(SEC 12-8)this season and yet there are folk on here that won't CCM fired in his 3rd season if the team doesn't make it to the dance. I will say next seasons expectation level should be a NCAA bid, but if this team is still showing progress there is no justification for firing him. His first two seasons have trended in the right direction. Discussions of firing him if things are not where we expect is premature. No one really wants to play in the NIT,but it's a tourney that will allow us to continue playing our guys and practicing also. Sometimes you have to work for what you want and need. CCM has this team headed in the right direction.

We tried that last year.

Well I guess we really do not know...but I kind of just like our coaches to win, but yes I prefer them to stay out of trouble...so I thought you were saying you perfer Martin as the coach. But heck yeah, bring back Pearl, heck bring him back now and take the punishment, because Martin will get the team in next year. If it happens, great, but it will not happen consistently. As we can clearly see.

You know we were winning before CCM came, this is not like Butch Jones replacing Dooley. It is not progress to go 6 straight NCAA tournaments and then do not go for your first two seasons as coach of said team.

And you forget the mess Pearl left this team in and when CCM arrived (just two years ago not 5 or 10) both Pippen and Harris left for the NBA. Yes, Pearl got this team to the dance, but Pearls transgressions put this team and the new staff behind the 8 ball. The progress is in the wins/losses. The reward is the NCAA Tourney bid. We are trending, but unfortunately you are like many that have no patience or understanding of having to work for certain things.

Yeah cause there is a bubble team coach dumb enough to say that his team has not done enough to warrant a bid

Both had games that were close and could have changed the season drastically. UK against Louisville and Duke. UT against G-Town and Bama.

Good luck to both next year.
