Anyone else feel this way? Because I do.

It's almost, no. Scratch that, IT IS like the loss didn't phase me. I expected it full on.

Honestly, I laughed when we turned it over. Not a Steve Spurrier "Oh, wow" laugh. An actual laugh.

It is comical at this point.

So, tell me. Why is anyone still surprised?

Doesn't phase me anymore.
And when we do win, I'm sitting there wondering what they're going to do to blow it.
Not fun anymore.
I feel for the kids tho.

Just hope we dont get mtsu again in the first round of the NIT...too soon?

Seriously though its painful seeing us do less with more.

Jarnell and jordy in bball not making a tourny of 68 teams and having CP and JH win 5 games under dools

I used to get very upset when we lost, even earlier this season. Now it's like I don't even care. I expect them to lose if the game is close at the end. Apathy is not a good thing. I had it in Dooley's last year too. Very sad.

Same here. And that is how the fan base is going to feel heading into next season if Zo is back. The curtains will be back in full force. I'm not even expecting much with whoever they hire to replace him. Look at the basketball programs of wherever Bama Dave has been. Nothing. We know they don't want the best coach they have had since Mears back. That would be too smart and they would have to swallow their pride.

Apathy.

There was a time in both major sports at UT where I knew and hated the opposing team's players because of how competitive we were. Now, it is indifference aka the neutral numbness the OP so eloquently stated.

And then watching our biggest rivals in both sports doing well for longer periods of time just makes it worse.
Makes me wonder how Tennessee manages to have a fan base as large as it is

I agree with the coaching hires. We never hire the obvious good coach. Example, Dooley was below 500 at La Tech. What do we do? Hire him and we expect SEC championships. We are buying hot dogs and expecting filet mignon. Now a basketball example, we hire Zo. He never has gone to the tourney but we expect sweet 16s. I wish we would jut hire the obvious good coach. Prior history is a great indicator of the future.

Surprisingly relatable.

I can remember comparing CDR and Lofton back in the year that thr state of Tennessee was a powerhouse. Happened with Weezy and JP too.

How our fanbase remains what it is is impressive considering the mediocrity of the last 4 years (longer if you include football).

Cause many of us still remember what it was like to be good. I fear for the younger generation of kids who don't remember the glory years in football or basketball. We're probably losing them to other programs.
