Never seen so much love

Came to say this. He is extremely talented and you would be blind to not see that. He is however, a freshman who played like a freshman. He was either on his back, or running for his life. Did you see the grass stains covering that poor guy’s jersey?! 😂 Back to the point, he will be a good one for Clemson in the future.

Maybe, maybe not. Will he consistently be clutch? Who knows? Has he already peaked? Who knows. We have had a few young guys show up here and get showered with lofty expectations that never materialized. When he earns it, give it to him, until then networks should concentrate on splitting their coverage more evenly. They did feature Joe losing his starter slot at MICH, then losing his starter slot at UT. They did give him some consolation props for being HH's best bud, but could not even keep his dog's breed straight.

How many times did they mention Joe's overthrows? They sounded like some of our own agenda driven posters. Their agenda was to praise a freshman. Amazing how our PI calls were all golden, even if no contact till after the ball hit us in the back, or even when we turned and made a play on the ball, but their contact was not good but great defense. It reached barf bag level. How many of his yards came after drives were extended by penalties... some definitely correct, others marginal at best, and wrong based on the bar they set on our guys. But drives extended regardless by actions other than his own. What was he 0 fer 4 on 4th downs. That counts too. Did they mention he had 2 more ints tonight than Joe did all season? Did they feature his 55% completion rate vs Joe's 67%? He did not deserve praise or trashing, he deserved to be fairly observed. So did Joe. Did not happen; till post game. Bad time ratio.

If you expect fairness from any media source, then the media and a dead owl have something in common. Both don’t give a hoot.

Given to a team or player that got their butts kicked. Their qb had 2 interceptions and was bailed out by 6 PI penalties. Dabo made stupid call after stupid call. Baffling to me.
I agree.
Hopefully, DUMBO will be bama’s next coach…..

ESPN desperately wanted this kid to be successful. It was truly pathetic.

When UT achieved success - radio silence. They didn’t know what to say. Long awkward silence, but when Clemson was successful they couldn’t shut their freaking mouths and showing the parents reaction. It’s getting really old.

I just know I would not trade our QB room for Clemson’s. With Joe, Nico and Tayvon (who I hope sticks it out with the Vols) I feel we are in great shape regardless what the talking heads say.

That's not what I saw and heard. They talked up both teams.

It's what happens when in your production meeting, you assume a game is going to go a certain way (and to be fair, I did too) and plan most of your coverage/commentary around that, but it doesn't materialize.

To be fair, they did talk a lot about HH and Joe's friendship and interviewed HH during the game on the sidelines. The sideline reporter even said something like "It has been an honor to cover your career."

Well if we are being fair, how many crowd shots of Joe's family and friends from just up the road Did they hide them in a super secret location in the stadium? How about Hooker's contingent? Count them up and share.

It's a television production. They had backstories about both QBs. The true freshman whose parents had travel trouble getting to the game and the friendship between our 2 QBs. The Klubnik coverage ended up getting really tiring because he didn't play all that well.

I know there's a lot of selective listening when you're looking for bias in a broadcast, but they went on and on at times about how unusual it is that Joe didn't transfer, what good friends Joe and HH became, how HH had Zoom meetings with Joe even though he was not with the team because of his surgery, etc. They were far, far, away from saying nothing about our guys.

I actually thought GM did a fair assessment of both teams Not so much for the other guy.

but it does keep drive alive the times they didn’t get the PIs. They were pretty stagnant otherwise. He got a lot of those yards when he really should been off the field . If he rainbows those under throws top DBs will eat him up our guys just needed to turn around and it would have hit em in the chest.
the PIs got them in the red zone JMO
Completely agree with you. Couldn’t believe we didn’t pick some of the deep balls; secondary needs a lot of improvement.

ESPN sucks, They promoted Klubnick before the game started and are still pumping him up today. Wait until the start of the upcoming season. They will be pushing him for the Heisman before the season even starts. I got sick of seeing videos of his family in the audience. ESPN never showed a single shot of Hooker's or Milton's family. Milton was the MVP of the Orange Bowl and not one camera shot of his family. I don't care what any of the ESPN azz kissers say, ESPN will not let a chance pass to dis UT. It kills them to have to say anything good about the VOLS. IF and that is a big IF, they say something nice it is always followed up by a negative comment.

One thing you said in your post. Has he already peaked. Texas HS is so advanced that they have a lot that just don’t get any better. I think that actually hurts U Texas as they get a lot of these guys that have stadiums and workout centers that mirror colleges. Then you have a guy that comes out of a state that is not a HS football Mecca then some of them have just scratched the surface. They get on a college program and make incredible 1 year gains.I have noticed a lot of Texas HS players get high star ratings and they seem to be off more than on star wise.

If their kicker hadn’t of blown several makeable FGs this was a one score game. I thought the kid did really well considering the stage and it was what, his first or second start?

Pretty easy to see that Clemson is going to be in the mix the next few years w their qb. His first start. He’s going to drive teams nuts once he settles in. I think that’s where the props are coming from
Yep pretty easy call, they are in a nothing conference…
