Neverending MBRO memory thread

I haven't heard a peep back from that other place. They may have been in shock from my hillbilly voice 🤣

This place can get frustrating. Had a kinda boss go in the office and tell my boss he was looking for me for over two hours. My boss kinda knows he's full of crap, but told me what he said, cause he wanted to show me something. I found out, and waited till he got in the break room in front of everyone. I went in and told him I heard he'd tried finding me for over two hours, and had even walked right past me during that time. I said he obviously didn't bother looking on my job, because I had being doing maintenance on one machine the whole time, and hadn't left it. Everyone kinda freaked out 🤣, but he does that stuff a lot to people, and I was letting him know I'd call him out for it. He changed the subject immediately, and asked if I'd heard something about another machine. I told him no, and asked why would I because it's not on my job, where I had been the whole time he allegedly was looking for me 🤣

Lordy, I kinda overdid leg day. My knee is throbbing, had to take pain meds! And when I say pain meds, I mean Tylenol 🤣

Quick update. It was just something I had to log in, and confirm I had read. My "recruiter" will contact me in the next 2-3 weeks for a screening interview. I imagine in person, because they said it'll take up to an hour.

Good luck Joe. You think your current job would match what you might get at new job?
Idk, I know they wouldn't the vacation time 🤣. We'll see how it goes, I'm still praying if it's not meant that it won't happen. Everything sounds pretty good, but that doesn't always mean it's good for each person. Thank you though.

I've had to match a couple in the past week. It's a tight labor market for good employees.

You can't be giving 3% annual raises and expect to keep good people when CPI inflation is 9% annually.

I’ve always been told not to take counteroffers:
- if your company valued you, they should have paid you what the market (new job) says you’re worth already
- there’ll be an asterisk by your name as “the guy who was out the door”, affecting consideration for future opportunities (and layoffs)
- if you’re only leaving for money, that’s one thing, but most people leave for additional reasons (bad boss, terrible go-workers, poor benefits, no opportunities for advancement, flextime and WFH nowadays), and counter-offers rarely address those

What’s your take on this view, from both the employer and your-experience-as-employee view?
