Neverending MBRO memory thread

Got the offer, but her job was to offer, and get paperwork going. She said I'll receive the formal offer via email in about 3 days, and looking at a start time in about 3 weeks if nothing goes wrong. I'll have to take a physical, and do a background check. She told me to wait until after that to give my notice, just in case. Starting pay is almost what I make now, with raises, bonuses, and a pension. Guess we'll see what happens, sounds good though.

Do you think your current job will try to bump your pay if you give your notice?

Re: pay - I’d at least ask them to match your current pay. (Verbal offers are when you negotiate. 😉) The built-in raises (confirm that they’re built-in, or at least a clear path to promotion), bonuses, and pension might be enough to outweigh the cut in pay.

Will you be exempt (no overtime pay, but supposedly with a bit of flex-time, and the threat of being called in at weird hours with no extra pay) or non-exempt (hourly pay, extra pay for overtime, but if things slow down and you don’t get 40 hours, your paycheck drops)?

How do the other benefits compare? Health insurance (are your providers covered? <- huge for you guys), vacation, PTO for medical, maybe disability, yada yada

And have you met your direct supervisor? Always good to confirm that s/he’s not a flaming a-hole.

- Basically, you want to be sure that have a better offer than if (God forbid) Lazybones applied for the same job.
I have met my supervisor to be, he was part of the interview crew. She told me today that you start with 3 weeks vacation, 40 hours personal time, and 40 sick time, all paid. I'd heard that, but had actually wondered if that was true, but it is. It's hourly, but not getting my hours should never be an issue. As long as I've been here, and the people I have known to work there, it's almost work whenever you want. Overtime is there if you want it, and you get time and a half. The start is only a dollar less than I make now, and insurance is cheaper all around. Tiffany already checked, she asked her friend there, and her Drs not only take the insurance, but said it was better. Also, I would get a discount on anything Johnson and Johnson makes. They have their own store, idk what all they actually have 🤣, but you get a discount. Her friend went from glasses to contacts, because they're free if you get theirs. I'd get the sign on bonus she said, and they have other good bonuses.

The Three weeks vacation is given because they try to schedule being shutdown for fourth of July, and Christmas, but don't get to a lot because of orders. That way you'd have two weeks of paid time then, and an extra week for whenever. When they don't shutdown, you can use those weeks as you please. You have the option of using them whenever, but wouldn't get paid if they shutdown. I kinda hope they do shutdown this fourth of July myself 🤣, if I go to work there anyway. People say they're good to their employees, I know they just had their Easter egg hunt this past weekend there. They have a huge thing for the employees and their families.

Oh yeah, got my haircut at a different place today, actually liked it.
