“Mandatory OT” is a misnomer. My wife’s boss spoke of “mandatory OT,” and everyone had to sit through an HR seminar on OT not being mandatory. Her boss then read a scripted statement stating that employees wanting to work OT were encouraged to notify their immediate supervisors.
