No doubt. But don't pretend that anonymously "signing" a "petition" on a message board has anything to do with that. This is sheer onanism.
I would expect Hart to be fired over this, eventually-- not because he hired Butch Jones specifically, but because he single-handedly bungled a critical search and portrayed the university in a very unfavorable light. Hart's huge ego made him a lone wolf on this search, which is a key part of his job, and he failed in very public fashion. He's being excoriated in the media and he has earned it.
So to be clear:
During the coaching search, the constant refrain around this place was "Hyams/Rucker/Heather/the Sports Animal/the Knoxville media SUCKS." But now that they're excoriating Dave Hart, they're prophets, and we should take what they're saying very seriously.
Is that about the speed of it?
Isn't it possible that today, just like yesterday and tomorrow, they're saying whatever they think will draw the greatest audience? After all, controversy is a lot easier to sell than thoughtful commentary.
