New Alabama Immigration Law

Tennessee shouldn't be throwing stones at any other state right now, with what we're passing as bills.

I'm trying to figure out why the Mexican government has been "quick to condemn the move." :wavey:

So if I'm in Alabama and I give a ride to a hitchhiker that turns out to be an illegal alien, I can be arrested? Fark that.

I can buy what that SPLC rep was saying about exceptions for churches and such at least.

Well, my wife is not a US citizen but she is a national citizen with a valid TN driver's license and she nor I have a problem with this bill.

With no exceptions? You're okay with churches being fined and penalized for giving room and board to somebody?

The intent of the law is to go after those who knowingly harbor, transport, and hire illegals. It's a good thing that businesses will be forced to use E-Verify to make it more difficult to hire illegals, and its good that we stop spending tax dollars on educating illegals. Not to say there isn't room in the bill for improvement, but arguing that giving a hitch-hiker, that happens to be an illegal, a ride will land you in jail, is political grandstanding.

If they know, you better believe it.

If they are backing a homeless shelter and some guy walks in who is hungry and they feed him and don't realize he is an illegal ... then no.

All for going after anyone who knowingly harbors an illegal.

You should know this about me by no Milo. I don't like double standards.

I'm definitely a supporter of the Arizona law. I haven't read this law, so I don't want to make stupid comments (like Obama with the Arizona law), but the quoted portion definitely seems like it's going too far.

Who gives rides to hitchhikers anymore? Is that something that you need to really be concerned about? I mean, these aren't the days of bobby socks, I Love Lucy and James Dean. There are cold blooded psychos out running loose today... and you're worried about picking up a psycho and going to jail? Jail would be the least of my worries if I even thought about putting one of them in my car.

I pick up hitch hikers. They're generally drunks, not killers.
