New Book unkind to Fulmer?

I guess you haters of all things CPF are tickled that 1 guy writes bad about CPF in a book. Have fun with it.
Given that the guy writing the book is the hottest author in the country right now, I'd say it certainly doesn't help TCHFCATUTK. Also, if you think Michael Lewis is the only person writing negative things about TCHFACTUTK, try reading more. I will list Matt Hayes, Lenn Robbins, and Dennis Dodd as just three examples of national writers who lampoon TCHFCATUTK on a regular basis.

I'm glad someone posted this; I just read an article on Oher in last months Readers Digest. When he started to school at Briarcrest he wore the same clothes to school every day. This prompted the principals wife who is now his adopted mother to go up to him at lunch and ask if he was hungry. At 344 lbs. I doubt he had missed very many meals.

My wife teaches at a private Christian school. Therefore my question is how does a kid with no history of sports, a mother who is an alcoholic, no dad, and lives in the meanest area of Memphis get into a private school. According to the story when he went to live with the principal and his wife they had to go to about eight different houses to find all of his clothes, because he stayed at so many different homes. He had been sleeping on an air mattress, and at 344 lbs. it would lose all of it's air by midnight every night.
Sean Tuohy is not the principal at Briarcrest.

Like I said. The hatred some of you have for him won't even allow you to enjoy a really good season turn around. It's actually pretty pathetic.

I'm enjoying the season. I'm also enjoying the book. My worldview isn't so narrow that it prevents me from doing both.

i don't get why it is so hard for some people to understand that recruiting violations go on at every major college program, be it basketball or football.

I don't understand how a fan of a school takes joy in bashing their own coach even when things are good.

what has Fulmer done to improve anything at UT this season. Please tell me how he PERSONALLY has changed anything that he does to make this team better.

I'm sure you'll grasp at some straw or another but the truthful answer is nothing. He was forced to get rid of Sanders, et al and Cut fell in his lap. The improvements on offense are attributable to Cut. The special teams are not much better than last year other than the incremental improvement you expect from kickers/punters as they gain experience. The defense is worse. Finally, the recruiting is down.

Your right. He has done nothing. I wish they would bring back a drunk for our head coach. :jpshakehead:

To answer BackDOC:

He (Tuohy) owns a bunch of fast food joints in the area, and his wife works at the school. Coming from a private high school that did some recruiting I am not so sure that the Tuohy's motives were completely pure. From the article in the times it seems like this kid was a lock to go to Ole Miss from the beginning. I am glad this kid worked his way out of ignorance and poverty, but if you read the end of the article it said the Tuohys were looking for another inner city "project". Only if he can play sports I would imagine.

All I am saying is the NCAA thought there was enough of a stink to investigate. They eventually let him in to school but it seemed a little bit shady to me. Especially the part about getting grades for BYU online courses. That isn't very fair to the student-athletes who earned the grades through hard work during the school year.

I would take a drunk as a coach if he was a consistent winner and won at least 2 natl champs

Yup. Look at Fulmer's record when Cut wasnt here and compare that to when he was/is here. Without Cut, we're a 3-5 loss team. Thats what we had become. Without Cut, we lost two sec cg, two PEACH BOWLS, 4 out of 5 to uga, 3 in a row to auburn, plus we had a 5-loss and 6-loss season.

I looked at the RD article again; Sean was not the principal at the school like hat pointed out. He was a counselor at the school. He owns 75 fast food rest.'s. I guess he didn't have any problem feeding the massive Mike.

and one national title not included what did we win w/ cut? cut coached peyton to an 0for against florida, took a few years to finally beat bama. I remember when cut left for Ole Miss everyone was on his case for a bland simple offense.. funny how 8 years away changed that story.

Its all relative. Cutcliffe compared to Sanders was a huge improvement.

so basically... cutcliffe is the second coming and is the only person responsible for anything that UT has ever done. I even heard that it was Cut who guided the team, not General Neyland during the 50's

so you want a HC who wins more than one, an OC gets by with just one... nice logic... i heard that the only way to stop coach O was to say the name "cut"...

nice logic

Here's some logic for you...quit being a Fulmer homer and look at the numbers when Cut wasnt here to when he was. Proof is in the pudding. Unless you enjoy going 8-5, 5-6, losing two sec championship games, losing two peach bowls.

the proof is in the pudding... we were a donte stalloworth screw up from returning to the NCG and another SECC.. can't blame that on fulmer, sanders, or clausen (though people love to). here's some logic for you.. quit being a cutcliffe homer and realize fulmer has done things for this team too
